Re: Best Internal BluRay Burner (5.25) for PC?
Asus BW-16D1X-U are a hit and miss. If your lucky you'll get a Pioneer drive, but lately I've seen more Asus (LG WH16NS40) drives in them.

For the Asus BW-16D1X-U shucking. Under the case there are 4 rubber feet. Peel of the two rear rubber feet. There will be a screw holes on each. You will need a screwdriver PH00 as the screw heads are small. Now use a guitar pick or something thin and slid this on both sides to loosen the top cover....

Both my LG WH16NS40 and LG WH16NS60 main boards have JB8 2015.05.08 printed on it. So the board is correct. Have you tried files from Downgrade Enabled Firmware V.2 folder? If you want I can work on your board if you want to send it to me.

It should still be under warranty. If your brave enough you can open the Asus shell and get to the drive and open the drive and clean the lasers that way. On the bottom of the Asus case pell of the two rear foots . There are two screws that need to be unscrewed. Carefully prey open the shell all aro...

What drive do you have? (mkv drive info)
From what I have observed with a pioneer drive is that when it starts making ticking sounds the laser is going or it's gone.
LG drives not sure. They been pretty strong so far.

Externally mounted using a OWC Mercury Pro enclosure. Powered directly from the wall. The only weak link I can think of on the connection side is that I am using an OWC dock (since I don't have a USB-B to USB-C cable for my laptop). Connection flowchart (Power): 120v AC wall outlet -> Enclosure Con...

Re: AACS host certificate error from flashed drive
So let me get this straight, after flashing the problematic drive on the other enclosure did you do a test to see if the drive could read the uhd disc on the same enclosure?

I have a LG WH14NS40 (built date of June 2013) that is missing the sled face plate and also a LG WH16NS40 (built date January 2015) that are collecting dust. If your located in the US I can ship it to you. You just have to pay for shipping.

Re: Flashing LG WH16NS40
@MartyMcNuts and @Billycar11 Thanks for the replies. Would this still be the case if I were to update the OEM firmware to a more recent one? I found this one the LG website, its from 2018 (v1.03). There's also a 2022 version (v1.05) If not then oh well, but figured I would ask and make sure. The ma...
