Re: I'm confused.

To confirm I've just read a Marvel Black Panter II. The backup seems fine but I'll erase it because i'm short on disk space.
Thank you for your response and have a nice day!

I'm confused.

Hello A lot of people talk about LG BU40N. I own two drives saying they are BU40N. But they also say HL-DT-ST as the maker. And this, on the outside sticker and on the firmware. CD-ROM HL-DT-ST BD-RE BU40N A100 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5 So, are they LG made or else ? Thank you for your knowledge ! Have a nice d...

Re: Explain simply how to get Java menus to work

Hello Sir,
I know nothing about Flatpax, but if I'm not mistaken nothing outside the container created by the flatpack app will run, including Java. So you have to either find a way to allow Java execution from Malemkv and VLC or install MakeMkv from source by compiling it yourself...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

I did more testing. I connected the BDR-211UBK drive via SATA and LibreDrive works fine now. So leaving this post up for those who have the same problem. Really bizarre that I have three other drives (2x Pioneer, 1x Asus) that work fine in three different USB enclosures. Only this BDR-211UBK refuse...

Re: Brand new BU40N shipped from China good or bad idea?

Hello, I've bought two of them in the last 5 years. They run fine and, as far as I know, they are genuine. Disclaimer : there are so many Chinese sellers that the chance you buy from the same sellers than me ir very very remote... So your experience can be different. I've bought them on Aliexpress b...

Re: random question: why does makemkv install to /usr/bin instead of /usr/local/bin?

Well in reality it's generally not considered a good idea to install something by running make install yourself. These days people often use flatpak or alike if it is something your distro doesn't ship in its official repo. The more traditional way would be to look for extra repo, or something like...

Re: Think this is a DVD disc problem, but asking to learn more...

What I was saying is that, under Linux, and if Makemkv says "DVD all region : Yes" you can read a DVD coded Region 1 on any DVD drive whatever Region you are in.
And this is true also for a DVD movie player software.

Re: Is the LibreDrive firmware causing Linux to be unable to read DVDs, but still read BluRays just fine?

Hello The switch between /dev/sr1 and /dev/sr2 is due to the drive hard resetting itself on error. When he does that, the host loose connection with the drive. So see a new drive when the drives connect back after the reset. But the old sr node has not been closed properly so remains. Hence, the hos...

Re: BU40N issues

Hello, I flashed the BU40N. To the A100 firmware. As it is a laptop internal drive, I shut down the computer and removed the batterie. Alas, upon reboot, the BU40N still misbehave : When you put a DVD in (I could not test with a BD yet), it spins and Ubuntu tries to get the DVD keys. Follows a infin...

Is it possible tu use MakeMkv to open tis files ?

Hi Guys ! On my ISP set-top box, one can record the television. But I cant open the resulting file. VLC gives me a black screen. On Linux, BU40N drives work better on the 1.00 firmware.
Hello,
I also have strange behavior under Linux by my BU40N.
Question : where do you find the 1.00 firmware ?
Thanks a lot in advance for your help !
