Extract tracks without video
I.E. Ripping audio/subtitle tracks without ripping the video track. 1. Is it possible in MakeMKV or makemkvcon? Or is there another software package that allows this? 2. Could it be added in (feature request)? The reason I ask is some titles are duplicated video with alternate audio tracks and if I ...

Re: Windows doesn't display thumbnail after DVD Rip
Hello. I ripped a DVD today, and I saw that the file doesn't have any thumbnail. I have movies which have thumbnail, but not the one I ripped with MakeMKV, how can I make Windows add a random thumbnail from the movie? Like Woodstock said, Windows doesn't play well with MKV files. You can use Handbr...

Re: Windows doesn't display thumbnail after DVD Rip
So based on what I've read, the MKV files are containers for the DVD native format, which is MPEG2. This is true for many DVD rips, but MKV files can store more than just MPEG-2 video. Is there any way to do a 1:1 conversion of the MKV files made by MakeMKV into a more standard MPEG2 file? I was ho...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Guide Updated 2020
I hope this is the right place. I'm trying to enable Libre Drive, and from what I understand from "What is LibreDrive" thread, it should enable itself automatically, but I have this drive info when I open MakeMKV: Drive Information OS device name: /dev/sr0 Current profile: BD-ROM Manufactu...

BUG: MakeMKV 1.15.1 Evaluation period expired
I'm on the latest MakeMKV build 1.15.1, which means all functionality should be free and not require a key. Now whenever I insert a BD, I get an error saying "Evaluation period expired. Please purchase a key..." I should note that because it's Linux (Mint 18.3) I had to install it manually...

Re: Complete newbie, a couple of questions
basdf thank you, that explains everything really clearly! I suppose for converting/compressing on Handbrake it will be a case of trying out different settings to see what gives me the best quality/file size combo. Annoyingly enough the smaller (Handbrake) MKVs don't tell me the bitrate in the detai...

Re: Complete newbie, a couple of questions
Short answer: it really depends on the original DVD video. MakeMKV is a ripping program only. It doesn't really compress video files and is not a true substitute for Handbrake, although it gives you some of the same options (which video, audio, and captions to rip). 1. MakeMKV rips the "raw&quo...
