Did you ever work out what was going on? unfortunately I have not. But I am curious to hear about your manual experiments! Well, using the string (including specifying cells) I posted above got everything saved properly - the second title showed no difference but the first title actually saved this...

Did you ever work out what was going on? I'm having lots of messages about cells x-end being skipped due to cell command, have cleaned the disc with a damp cloth and now trying the manual disc opening as recommended here http://www.makemkv.com/manualdvd/ I got the complex multiplex message when open...

Happy to help. I'm guessing you're using Windows Explorer to view the mkv properties? At least that's what happens when I used it. I switched over to Linux Mint a couple years ago but I remember mkv files not having their properties read correctly in the File Properties window on Windows 10/8/7. Ye...

basdf thank you, that explains everything really clearly! I suppose for converting/compressing on Handbrake it will be a case of trying out different settings to see what gives me the best quality/file size combo.
