Probably means that VLC is set to region B or C. You can change the Blu-ray region in tools > preferences > input / codecs > access modules > Blu-ray.

I received a BP55EB40 SVC: EB40 with firmware 1.02 today and did the same as PeterRatgen. After flashing the firmwares, I tested the drive with a UHD disc (Hong Kong release of Your Name) and MakeMKV ran the disc.
