Thanks!

Re: Why use MKV vs other video compression
So I have had experience with other media backup tools that will rip to MP4 but typically are problematic or have issues with video - sound sync, etc. MakeMKV works fantastic for backing up. So I guess I'm looking for an MKV to MP4 or other compressed format tool. That allows me to keep the primary ...

Re: Why use MKV vs other video compression
Cool thanks for the reply. Any tips on a re-mux tool? I'm fairly computer literate but new to Plex and backing up. I am backing up both 4k UHD and standard Blu-Ray and DVD's with good success using MakeMKV. I don't care about subtitles although if I could keep the base English subtitle that would be...

Why use MKV vs other video compression
Yep a NOOB question, however I did a search for "Why use MKV" on this forum and the search results came back empty. This must have been discussed here before, so I'll keep searching but if someone could push a link to me I'd appreciate it. The question is in the title: Why backup my DVD's ...

Re: SDFtool Flasher
If you use AnyDVD at all, or plan on writing discs at all, then this is the best firmware for this drive. If you don't care about disc writing or using AnyDVD, then another firmware option is WH16NS60 1.02 MK. This firmware is a bit faster and removes the sleep bug. I am planning on writing to disk...

Re: SDFtool Flasher
UPDATED, found my answers on the forum. Leaving post up just for other noobs like me :-) Sorry for the noob question, but: I am not sure what firmware to flash or where to get it. I am using an external USB enclosure an OWC Mercury Pro case. Can I flash with this enclosure? It was recommended by an...

Billy, E-mail sent. Looking to for a USB compatible external drive, either a slim or a standard in an enclosure. I have not done any ripping in a while but used to using Make MKV several years ago. I am running an Asus Prime B450M-A motherboard with both USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, if tha...
