Re: LG WH16NS40 1.05 won't downgrade to 1.02
Did you had to check "Enc" when flashing directly from WH16NS40 1.05 to WH16NS60 1.02-MK? Thank you!

Is flashing still mandatory with MakeMKV and why?
Let's say I buy a WH16NS40 1.05-Stock. Do I still need to flash the drive to the recommended firmware if I'm using AnyDVD with MakeMKV? I mean, I read that you don't need to flash anymore, that MakeMKV is now taking care of that. So, what would be the difference between not flashing vs flashing to r...

Re: Recommended Firmware to flash for AnyDVD
One more thing, although AnyDVD Status window and MakeMKV Info window now report my optical drive (originally a WH16NS40) as a WH16NS60 1.02 since I flashed it, Windows' Device Manager now reports it as a WH14NS40. That's normal I guess?

Re: Recommended Firmware to flash for AnyDVD
Thank you Billycar11, works like a charm! A friend is about to get a WH16NS40 1.05-Stock which I've read has an encrypted firmware. Can I flash it directly to WH16NS60 1.02-MK too? I believe the "enc" option has to be checked in Martys SDF GUI flasher to succeed, am I right? Guys, thank yo...

Recommended Firmware to flash for AnyDVD
Hi, I have a WH16NS40 1.04-Stock. What would be the best firmware to use with AnyDVD? I don't have to be able to write BD-R with this drive. In the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide, for a WH16NS40, the recommended firmware to flash for MakeMKV is WH16NS60 1.02-MK. The thing is, I read somewhere th...

Re: LG WH16NS40 1.02 DE burning issues
Yes but what does WH16NS60 1.02-MK have WH16NS40 1.03-MK doesn't that makes it usable as an intermediate? Both are two MK firmwares.

Re: LG WH16NS40 1.02 DE burning issues
Ok, when you have a few minutes I'd like to know why the WH16NS60 1.02-MK can be used as an "intermediate" firmware before we can apply WH16NS40 1.03-MK.
It must have something special...?
Thanks!

Re: LG WH16NS40 1.02 DE burning issues
So we would have done the following?
WH16NS40 1.04-Stock --> WH16NS60 1.02-MK
then
WH16NS60 1.02-MK --> WH16NS40 1.03-MK
Is that it?
That seems odd but you're the man.
I mean, why an 1.04 Official would take a 1.02 MK from an other model but not 1.03 MK of the same model...

Re: LG WH16NS40 1.02 DE burning issues
Any example of those ripper programs that blacklist by firmware number?
Could we have went directly from 1.04 Official to 1.03 MK or an intermediate firmware would have been needed?
Thanks!!

Re: LG WH16NS40 1.02 DE burning issues
Would you mind explaining why you initially recommended 1.02 DE instead of 1.03 MK?
I'm sure you have a good reason and I certainly would be interested in knowing.

Re: LG WH16NS40 1.02 DE burning issues
I just burned a BD-R with 1.03 MK.
Will rip a BD66 and BD100 starting in a few minutes.
One more question, can I go directly from 1.03 MK to 1.02 DE ? Just curious.
Thanks for helping me out.
