Re: "Fake playlist" protection - help needed

HI. New to the forum. I am running into an issue with this frequently luckily to date I have been able to search this form and find the correct version to use. However I am running into a particularly frustrating blu ray (Hell or High Water) I have what I'm assuming the retail version ( it has a fa...

Re: Using Java Runtime Environment to get around obfuscation

The JAVA method in 2021 still seems like a hit or miss. It will work on some movies, but not on others unfortunately. I still have to use ProcMon + PowerDVD or ProcMon + VLC to manually do a lot of titles.

Re: A Better Way To Find The Correct Playlist/Segment Map

It looks like if you have already backed up a disc that has Obfuscation on it, then this method will NOT work once you're ready to extract the movie and make an MKV file out of it. I have used this method in the OP successfully for discs, but have not tried a disc that I have backed up previously wi...

Re: What is the correct play list [insert title here]?

What he said. A check of blu-ray.com shows that there are "hidden tracks", like Japanese audio, on the disk, which may explain the additional mpls. I definitely understand that but why would they need 2 of the same exact movie for this purpose? It should be the same exact thing except one...

Expanded the titles and check the included audio and subtitle tracks.
Thank you! I chose the one that has the same style of tracks as the back of my bluray case.

Re: What is the correct play list [insert title here]?

@Woodstock does it matter which file I choose in this situation. The file sizes are the exact same, as well as the movie's runtime, chapters, and segments. They are both .mpls as well. Thanks for any insight. I want to make sure I select the right file every time so I do not have to do it again. Do...

Re: What is the correct play list [insert title here]?

Thanks so much! I was just making sure there are no differences in quality between the two file types. I am just playing the files on Kodi and Plex apps and want the best quality possible to the orginal blu ray disc.

Re: What is the correct play list [insert title here]?

Notice the Source File Names; the one with chapters is a mpls (play list), while the one without them is an m2ts (raw transport stream). Yes, they are the "same movie", but the play list determines which parts of the transport stream are used, and includes the chapter list. Which one is t...

Re: What is the correct play list [insert title here]?

I would like to revisit this, but not for Lionsgate titles. I have been ripping a lot of blu-rays lately and there are a lot of movies that are like this one that I am posting a screenshot of. It will show "Cooley High" - 10 Chapters , 21.2 GB then has 3 segments (segment map 2,3,2 in this...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs

Got it. Did you see my other paragraph asking about deleting the subtitles for each movie I do not need and using the multiplexer? Finally, is it not worth it to remux just to get rid of all of the extra sub tracks I do not need ? There is an option to use their multiplexer to get rid of all of the...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs

MKVToolnix does not change the content. Setting flags, names etc. can be done with the "MKVToolNIX GUI" Header Editor (left menu, third selection), simply change it and save it. No remux needed to change only header data. Do you know how to find out which subtitle track is which in the MK...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs

You guys rock! So just use MKVtoolnix and make sure to default it and mark it as "forced" as I'm all set after this? MKVtoolnix will not take the .MKV generated by MakeMKV and deteriate any of the original quality right now? I know it says "no compression" for my video and audio ...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs

Any input on my last post? I'm really trying to figure out the best way to ultimately get the forced subtitle track on my rips. I know I can use MKVtoolnix to default a sub track but no idea the best way to determine which movies have a forced subtitle track.

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs

I just wanted to bump this to clarify a couple of things with subtitles. I want to specifically focus on "forced subtitles" here. Is the way I am doing my current workflow correct? The only subtitles that I need are those for foreign movies that do not have an English audio track AND the o...

Re: Understanding Ripping Subtitles from Blu-Rays and UHDs

rather than messing around with sometimes a lot of extra tracks afterward. I always review the automatic selection before I start ripping, it’s just to get me 90% of the way there (and most of the time The only thing I have noticed with the automated file you gave me is that it will select the main...
