Please be aware that the Asus BC-12D2HT does not write blu rays only reads them, your old drive is a writer and also a little faster, the old vs new flashing methods are different now and easier. You can find the same newer model to what you had in the UK Asus BW-16, so if writing to BD Disk and fas...

I haven't flashed my drive yet, I am just making sure I got everything right before going ahead and flashing it, I have noticed a DE firmware file version 3.00 in the the firmware pack what are the benefits of DE firmwares?

Thanks, is it advisable to make a copy and dump the original firmware of the drive or is this no longer necessary? If it's still required (for safe keeping just in case) what utility should I use to do this? is Dosflash still the tool to do this or can it be done with the modified Asus ODD FW Changer?
