Or simply start the streaming server from the MakeMKV gui and point your web browser to http://localhost:51000/web/titles and browse to the available titles. You can then open your preference in mplayer, totem, vlc, and so on. For Debian (and presumably other distros) simply install mozilla-mplayer ...

I had this issue too but it was resolved by installing the 1.5.8 version. The installation procedure overwrites both 1.5.6 binaries. My only guess (and it's just that) is that perhaps you didn't install BOTH the .bin & .oss binaries.

Always glad to have more Linux people around! What applications (if any) do you use for encoding to different formats? I'd fiddled with Handbrake but it doesn't keep the subtitles.
