do you a RAM disc? This was the problem for my installation. I am using Windows 10 (20H2).
After changing the temporary directory (Environment Variable TMP and TEMP) to SSD, it worked again.
A recent update of the RAM disc also solved the problem for me.

I use Windows10 64bit (32GB of main memory, latest version). So definitly not only a problem of 32/64 bit.

so what can be done to support you to find the problem?
I am willing to do some tests to get a working version again.

Tried once more and I see, that my error message is a little bit different: NO_ANSWER_FROM_MAKEMKVCON. But it fails to initialiaze the application with just that window.

This is not a problem of Windows XP only. I have the same error message on my Windows 10 Home (20H2). I tried to install MakeMKV in german and english. Last known version working for me was 1.15.2.

I am enabled debug log in version 1.15.2 and then installed 1.15.4. The only line in the debug log is:
Debug log started at Mon Dec 14 18:29:22 2020 , written by MakeMKV v1.15.4 win(x64-release)

I am using Windows 10.
I found no logs in the Event Log of Windows.

Hi,
MakeMKV 1.15.3 failed to start, so tried new version 1.15.4. I only get a popup window with the title "MakeMKV BETA popup" and the text "Application failed to initialize". Reinstall of MakeMKV 1.15.2 works and is running.
I have a registered version of MakeMKV.

Hi,

I just downloaded and installed version 1.15.3 of MakeMKV under Windows 10. When I try to start it, just a small window pops up with the text "Application failed to initialize". I cannot download previous version 1.15.2.
