Re: BP50NB40 vs BDR-UD03 as replacement for WH16NS40
A bp50 is better than the wh16ns40 you have but not by much and only if you give it enough power with a high powered USB port. But a pioneer is way better you just don't have to deal with hash errors and reboots when the drive gets in to a retarded mode. If you can get another pioneer Thanks for th...

BP50NB40 vs BDR-UD03 as replacement for WH16NS40
So I have had several WH16NS40 flashed to 1.02MK over the years which read pretty much everything, with the occasional errors while ripping, and eventually died. While I was easily able to pick up another, I still had an occasional read error on a UHD disc here or there, but they mostly worked. As d...

Verbatim 43890 enclosure disassembly?
Has anyone taken apart the case/enclosure of the Verbatim 43890 (Pioneer drive inside) without breaking it?
I have a Verbatim 43890, I'd like to remove the drive it from its case and put it in one of these -> https://a.co/d/46KVNCm so I can mount it inside my desktop case.

Re: Verbatim 43890 External Slimline Mobile USB 3.2 Blu-ray Writer UHD Problem
Another "satisfied customer" here. :D I purchased a Verbatim 43890 from Staples (Prices Corner shopping center, Wilmington, DE) yesterday. It has a Pioneer BDR-UD03 in it. I emailed the drive info to Billycar11 last night, got a quick response, and received the flasher before I woke up thi...

So those getting a Pioneer drive inside when purchasing the Asus BW-16D1X-U, where are you purchasing them from?

Re: Asus BW-16D1X-U
My LG WH16NS40 just died, so I'm going to have to purchase something. Pricing and availability varies, but the local Microcenter has Asus BW-16D1X-U in stock for the same price I'm seeing online. So I was thinking of picking one up after reading this thread. It looks like the most recent posters ar...

Re: Best software to shrink mkv
I know many use Handbrake to re-encode/shrink the MKV which MakeMKV outputs. Let me offer another... GPUENCC.exe its included with BD-Rebuilder download. https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143716 It is a front end for NVEnc (for Nvidia gpu) and QSVEnc (for Intel GPU) by Rigya (see GitHub). It ...

Re: Good vibes for Mike
Mike, thank you for all your hard work on MakeMKV. I've been using it for two years, and it's a damned fine tool. You clearly put a lot of hard work and love into that application, and I appreciate it. So whatever is going on in your life, I hope you're okay, and in good emotional and physical heal...

MK vs DE?
Unfortunately with 1.02MK, Passkey complains that the drive isn't compatible. Searching, it appears 1.00DE would work for both MakeMKV and Passkey. What are the differences between 1.00DE and 1.02MK? Should I be concerned about read errors happening again if I flash to 1.00DE? Here is why I ask: I h...

Re: LG WH16NS60 Firmware History
they are mostly the same i say 1.02mk or if you use other rippers use 1.00de yes they are all modified from the original firmware PMJI, so if I use something other than MakeMKV on occasion to rip, 1.00de is better? Can I ask why? or what problems i might encounter if I use MK firmware instead along...

Re: Correct way to convert 4k HDR rips?
I use BD-Rebuilder and do a "Alt-Movie Only" process to MKV Container HEVC, No_Resize, Intact Audio, with CQM=21, using NVEnc Encoder in High Quality.
Works great, and the same profile/setup works for both 1080p Bluray as well as HDR/DV 4K's.
