[Use handbrake/mencoder/ffmpeg/x264 on the resulting mkv file from makemkv if you want to make it smaller.]

Is there any suggestion to make mkv file smaller ripping from makemkv? Last night I tried makemkv, ripping startrekII and I end up more 30 gigs of mkv file.
