Re: Chapter and aspect ratio issues with certain DVD's
There's nothing one can do - aspect ratio is siored in two places - IFO and mpeg headers, and on DVD IFO settings always overwrites what's stored in mpeg header. MakeMKV puts correct aspect ratio from IFO to MKV header, but many programs ignore it there and use data from mpeg header. Generally one ...

Re: Chapter and aspect ratio issues with certain DVD's
An amazingly large number of commercial DVDs have some sort of error on them. I have seen things like the telecine pattern (on NTSC DVDs) being broken several times during a film due to it having been edited after the telecine conversion was done, I have seen menus take you to the wrong choice, I ha...

Re: MakeMKV doesnt see individual episodes--just the "play a
Yes, but I just did another series that had that same setup, and MakeMKV sees BOTH: the "Play All" as one big title, and ALSO the individual episodes! :? I've avoided using handbrake because I don't want to re-encode or compress it, I just want to pick out the episodes. Can handbrake do t...

Re: Video Scrambled in QuickTime
This sounds a lot like the problem I originally reported here http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=21949 and here http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1208 I cannot however see your example image as it appears to no longer be online. The problem was that MKV files p...

Re: Question about playback with subtitles
Why don't you just remove subtitles when ripping it's a simple right click to bring up the context menu and choose unselect all. If I never wanted subtitles I agree that would be an option, however sometimes I might, either because someone with a hearing problem is visiting and watching, or as I me...

Question about playback with subtitles
I am using MakeMKV on a Mac (currently version 1.6.10). I notice that MakeMKV auto selects my preferred language (of English) for selecting audio and subtitle tracks for ripping which is fine. I also notice that for playback of the resulting MKV file it has enabled playback of the first (English) au...

Re: MKV file made by MakeMKV and Perian on a Mac = bad
Somewhat good news! :D MKV files produced using MakeMKV do not work properly in QuickTime Player using Perian and Apple's MPEG2 component. Older versions of MakeMKV resulted in bad macro blocking, while the latest 1.6.7 version of MakeMKV results in a file that plays no video at all (but does play a...

Re: MKV file made by MakeMKV and Perian on a Mac = bad
Files produced by MakeMKV (from a DVD source) play fine on a Mac in VLC or Plex or other similar software using ffmpeg and similar libraries. However I was looking for a solution that would allow playing files based on DVD sources that would also work in QuickTime to provide the maximum flexibility ...

MKV file made by MakeMKV and Perian on a Mac = bad
I am using MakeMKV 1.5.2 beta under Mac OS X 10.5.8, and also on another computer running 10.6.2. Both computers have Perian 1.2.1 installed, and also the Apple MPEG2 QuickTime component (should that be relevant). I am using MakeMKV to produce an MKV file from a title on an unprotected DVD. As such ...
