Re: MakeMKV makes bad MKV files?

I've noticed 1.7.7 generating files that Handbrake has problems with converting. On a few Blu-ray's I've ripped the file at one point cant be read by Handbrake via it's error log, however the original file plays fine with no apparent errors. A remux with mkvmerge solves the problem and the video can...

Flac transcoding crashing

I've been trying out the Flac transcoding but haven't had any luck so far, seems to crash every time I try. I've changed builds of ffmpeg, different Blu-ray's and it makes no difference (audio track selected was TrueHD). Running Windows 7 64-bit, used latest ffmpeg from zeranoe, it just crashes, ask...

Re: Question about the MakeMKV FAQ

Forced subs on DVD's can be messy over the years I've seen it does various ways, the point I think is that Blu-ray's are more strict on how forced subs are done.

Re: 3D playback

The only traditional media player capable of playing H.264 MVC (3D Blu-ray) codec & also support the MKV container are Realtek 1186 players . The only other chipset with H.264 MVC support that might appear in network media players is the Marvell Armada 1500 which is used in second generation Goo...

They do play OK on my computer in VLC (2D only) but some refuse to playback or look like they're totally corrupted when streaming to the TV t...

Re: how to play mkv rip on ipad 3?

You cant. MakeMKV is lossless which means HD MPEG-2, VC-1 or H.264 blu-ray specification video. The iPad only has hardware decoding support for H.264 video nothing else and it will not enable that hardware decoding for H.264 video if it's not in a M4V container. It will fall back to CPU decoding for...

Re: HD-DVD Support for X-Box 360 HD-DVD on a Mac

MakeMKV's HD-DVD support is not as robust as it's DVD/Blu-ray support to the point were it doesn't really work at all in my experience. You could email the logs to support@makemkv.com and see if mike can address it in the long run. You can have the same output from MakeMKV with HD-DVD via manual too...

Not with MakeMKV, it is not a video encoder.

You will have to use other programs to generate SBS 3D video.

Use a nightly build of Handbrake their official builds are quite old and do not keep pace with other software applications.

Re: Unable to stream MKV to Samsung BD-D5500

According to Samsung the D5000 should support H.264 in MKV so anything using normal or high profile should have worked however Samsung may have pulled a fast one only allowing those formats to work over USB and not DLNA, this is a fairly common tactic from the likes of Sony and Panasonic. Interestin...

Re: Audio Help

You cant really use MKV on iOS devices anyway, the Apple Quicktime player will only enable hardware accelerated decoding on H.264 video in M4V/MP4/MOV containers anything else is barred so all the media players on the app store use the iPad CPU only. This means it does not decode the video as well a...

Re: New member media player experiences and feedback

I looked at the Boxee Box but it failed all of my basic tests (from what I can tell; D-link does not seem to provide complete specs anywhere): No gigabit ethernet. Irrelevant to Blu-ray streaming 100Mbps ethernet is more than enough. No indicated menu support in ISOs (although this is becoming less...

Re: New member media player experiences and feedback

LPCM support in MKV is not common at all even among PC software players, you should take TrueHD or DTS-MA track for HD audio were applicable or convert the LPCM into lossless Flac. BD subtitles in MKV are also not fully supported by all players. Netgear could probably fix both of these issues in sof...

Re: Lots of duplicate tracks on new Blu-rays

Lots of seemingly duplicate tracks are sometimes alternate video streams were CGI is used to edit text on screen for foreign languages so for example a sign in the video appears in english, german, spanish etc.

Loony Toons seem a bit old for that level of treatment though.
