I'm still trying to figure this out myself. Haven't found a reference to the meaning of the new prefixes. And I really only use the cmdline version, so if the gui has some explanation, it's not something I'll see. Maybe someone can point us to the right place...

See earlier responses. Some time, in a great wonderful future, sdftool (or, specifically MTK and pioneer modules) will have a "flash" command. That command would accept flash image in any format, check it for correctness, and even fix the most obvious user mistakes. This time has not yet ...
