Fallout ripped fine for me with the same drive and firmware on my Mac - Close Encounters 4K however did not rip, which others say did. I didn't flash my Asus drive but bought it from someone on Ebay (user DVD Maniac on these forums) in these forums. It's the 3.10 firmware which I assume is the same ...

Guess I was lucky with the inexpensive slim Blu-ray drive I bought 3 years ago which I used to rip nearly 500 DVDs and Blu-rays with only 2 fails - both looked like really cheap pressings so probably delaminated. So far I've only had Close Encounters 4K fail on me, but that doesn't appear to be unco...

Interesting. So I guess I should go for an LG, seeing as I just bought an Asus BW-16D1HT. I'll probably give it a few more months, as I'm finding it slim pickings for the kind of films I would be interested in at 4K. Went on a Blu-ray being frenzy last year with some films being my third time purcha...

Tried tonight to mount the disc using Windows, albeit via Boot Camp on a MacBook, still no joy. Sending the disc back and will try again later in the year.
Two out of my first three UHD discs ripped ok. Will be ordering Die Hard tomorrow and trying that.

Same here, no errors. It then simply ejects the disc.
I'm going to try installing MakeMKV on a Mac running Windows tomorrow to see if that works, if not I'm rating the disc to Amazon. Perhaps it's the disc - I'll try again in a year.

Multiple drives for success?
So is there a consensus that one should have multiple drives of different brands to improve the success of ripping UHD movies?

Interesting. I'll see if I have any better luck using Windows, I've a Mac laptop with Boot Camp installed I could try it on.
