Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Guide Updated 2020

I've been using an LG WH16NS40 for a while and I think it's dying. It's making a terrible grinding noise and MakeMKV is reporting hash errors. I've ordered a replacement from Amazon (same model) so as long as it has SVC50 (or higher) and MT1959 I should be OK, right? Also, which firmware is recommen...

Re: UHD drives

Hmmm... I'm using an ASUS Maximus Hero X (Z370) that doesn't appear to support legacy IDE mode (AHCI only). Do I have any options? I've made the boot disk but DOSFlash doesn't detect the drive. EDIT: If I can another PC I can use for flashing, can I use DOSFlash to flash 1.02 but also keep the calib...

Re: UHD drives

Just to let everybody know, I got my WH16NS40 from NewEgg (NJ warehouse) and it came with SVC code NS50 but ROM v1.03 (firmware?) and a date of 11/2017. I'm going to install it tomorrow and downgrade it. I'm assuming even though it appears to have come with 1.03 that it can still be downgraded and w...

Re: UHD drives

Thanks much for the information.

Should I just go for whichever is cheaper then? I thought with the LG you need to get a specific revision as well...

Re: UHD drives

Is the ASUS BW-16D1HT still the best drive to buy?

I'm tempted by the WH16NS40 for only $50 (and it has a faster BD-ROM readspeed)...

Do any Blu-ray players display MPLS or M2TS files? (re: TV)

Are there any Blu-ray players (software) that display the actual MPLS or M2TS being played?

When I'm trying to rip a television series Blu-ray it's sometimes hard to determine the correct tracks.

Ideally I'd like a Blu-ray player with full menu support that just let's me click [Save] on each item :)

Re: New activation code till end of March 2015 doesn't work

This doesn't work for me. If I set the date to 1/29 then it works, but re-entering the key using the instructions doesn't work once I set the date back to the current date.

Cars 2 - Source file is corrupt or invalid offset

I'm trying to rip Cars 2 Bluray and I'm getting errors about the source file being corrupt or offset invalid.

Can anybody help me?

Here is the debug log: http://pastebin.com/1Nagqcrp

Thanks!

How can I determine correct subtitle tracks?

How can I determine the correct subtitle tracks for a bluray movie? My current process involves extracting all of the English subtitle tracks using eac3to and then viewing them in a subtitle viewer. Sometimes I find one is a commentary subtitle track, but others are extremely similar and for hearing...

How can I determine the title names for episode discs?

Let's say I'm ripping a Bluray disc that contains a couple of different episodes (ie. a TV show).

The files that get created are named "title00.mkv, title01.mkv, title02.mkv".

Is there any (easy?) way to determine what the titles should be?

Is MakeMKV lossless?

This looks like an excellent application but I have two quick questions...

1) Does MakeMKV convert DVDs (VOBs) to MKV lossless? ...or is there transcoding that happens?

2) Can MakeMKV convert MPG (or other files) to MKV losslessly?

Thanks!
