Yeah, this Dolby Vision stuff is really complicated.
What's the interaction between the player (x700/x800m2) and the TV (LG C9, CX, C1, etc) ?
If the bug is in the player, then why does the TV make a difference?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=124752#p124752 Thanks ... I've read that but I'm confused especially regarding the Oppo 203. This player was regarded as the best (ie. "reference quality") but nobody has noticed this bug for years? (and no reviewer mentioned this problem wh...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Regarding the L1 bug that was recently discovered, does this affect all movies?
Do all movies use L1 information? If not, can I check if a movie contains it?
Does this only affect newer UHD/DV movies?
I'm struggling to find a good way to play FEL movies now...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I wonder if this would allow me to play DV TS + LPCM 7.1 via EARC to my ARC AVR. https://www.thenaudio.com/product/zone-2-earc-audio-processor/ I have almost the same exact product ( SHARC v1 ) but I haven't used it yet. I ordered it a while ago but never used it on my LG CX but I'm going to try on...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks ... hopefully it hasn't shipped yet. I purchased both an x800m2 (received from Amazon) and oppo-clone (m9201, not yet shipped). I have an LG CX and LG C1 but they don't support DTS or any lossless, right? I've been trying to understand everything to get a "complete" UHD playback set...

Darn! I've just ordered an oppo-clone but now I guess I should cancel it before it ships?

Can anybody with an oppo (or clone) test this?
Does it also have the bug?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
ok - thanks ... I'll give it a test tomorrow on my CX and C1.
By the way, do you prefer the x800m2 instead of the oppo 203 (or clone) ?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
This stuff is incredibly confusing...
If you can explain the test I can test using both an LG CX and LG C1.
Regardless ... does this mean the "chinoppo"/oppo are pretty much the best players?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Are there any ELI5 (explain like I'm five) guides for Dolby Vision?
I've tried searching but I can't find anything really straightforward to explain RPU, MEL, FEL, etc.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Is it possible to decode and play Dolby Vision movies on a PC monitor?
For example, the Alienware AW3423DW (34" Ultrawide, QD-OLED, "HDR") doesn't support Dolby Vision but can software decode the Dolby Vision and display it instead of having the monitor decode it?

Thanks again so much for the help.
Any advice regarding the Oppo 203 clone (M2910) instead of the X800M2?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I'm still learning, but I thought I read you can convert FEL to MEL without any visual loss of quality? (ie. no TV panels can display 12-bit FEL anyways?)

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks for the advice.
If I don’t care about FEL, the would the Zidoo be a better choice than the x800m2? (you can convert FEL to MEL anyways, right?)
