Re: Creating/saving top level DVD menu

Thanks, it's good to know that. There are times when a feature may not justify the efforts to implement it.

Creating/saving top level DVD menu

When creating an MKV file I routinely skip added (optional) features of DVDs including all short (less than 3 minutes) titles and save only the main movie file. But I very much would like to save the top level DVD start menu together with the main feature. This would be helpful to investigate availa...

Re: Blu-Ray and DVD Copy Speeds

The latest (v1.8.2) MakeMKV rips just as quick as the previous versions. I just saved a standard DVD movie that reached Read Speed: 19.9 M/s (15.1X) during the process. The DVD drive specifications are normally the largest factor limiting the read speed that can be achieved. So if you have more than...

Re: Selection of the correct subtitle version

Yes, the file size property of the ambiguous subtitle tracks practically begs for consideration when looking for a criteria to differentiate among those tracks. Both the tiny and the larger (than the smallest main) tracks fall by the wayside. Right, and director's comment tracks will be even larger....

Re: Selection of the correct subtitle version

Which simply won't be happening until all people authoring discs name their streams accordingly. Good luck with that. Well I certainly don't feel that lucky since the odds are overwhelmingly against us. But if my thirty plus years in programming thought me anything it's to "never say never&quo...

Re: Selection of the correct subtitle version

Unfortunately we are getting farther rather than closer to arrive at a solution we could agree on. What I'm asking is the addition of the capability to choose the correct (desired) subtitle in those cases when there are more than one subtitle track for the same language. E.g. English, English, Engli...

Re: Selection of the correct subtitle version

Yes, I've tried all that but the time it takes to remaster with Handbrake is about the same as creating the original MakeMkv file. In case of bluray disks that can take quite a long time! And in my particular situation Handbrake (v0.9.8.) doesn't even detects much less allows to remove PGS subtitles...

Selection of the correct subtitle version

When numerous subtitles of the same language are available for a movie (English, English, English) is there a way to indicate or find out (preview) what is the difference between them? If I only arbitrarily select one it's usually a wrong type, like the one for the "hearing impaired". If I...

Define custom title name

While the custom title options is available in Expert mode the output file still won't be saved under the name entered. Regular spaces are replaced with underlines ("_") and the suffix "..._t00" (tnn) is always added to the file name. There could be an option for this that I just...

Re: Failed to save title to file revisited

Nothing is too wild at this point. I've even tried to save it under another name and not by the default "UNDEFINED", or letting to include ALL options, (Chinese, Thai, etc. subtitles.), AND setting the file size filter to 10sec instead of my normal 600sec (5min) value. But! Different sourc...

Failed to save title to file revisited

First failure of any kind I've ever experienced. (Using MakeMKV for 2-3 years.) Failed to save "A Chinese Ghost Story 2". Standard DVD (Megastar Video Distribution (HK) LTD". Everything runs as normal, but at the end of the "Make MKV" event popup error report says: "Cop...

Re: BRAVE DVD anyone?

It only has the data for it once. The rest is all bs to stymie the people that are trying to back up their DVDs. Blurays have this too. It's just a stupid method of copy protection that doesn't do anything but annoy the legitimate users, and isn't even a stumbling block for pirates. That should be ...

Re: Subtitles and MakeMKV

Which can be done just now by selecting a minimum title length. Selecting the minimum title length, (currently I'm using 6000), will enable the exclusion of many titles, but will not permit batch deselection of the many options such as: audio, languages, subtitles, etc left in the remaining titles....
