Re: FEATURE REQUEST: Auto-Focus Cursor on Text Field

(I tag almost every track in almost every title during setup, all in their own language). But why? I mean what information do you write in there? MakeMKV knows already which language an audio track or subtitle track is (if the disc is mastered correctly, which is usually the case). And any player s...

Re: best setting for archival purpose - decrypt or not

I once made a poll in another forum. Unfortunately I didn't got too many replies: https://i.imgur.com/MqpMUUj.png (https://i.imgur.com/MqpMUUj.png if picture isn't shown) Just keep in mind: MakeMKV doesn't remove much of protections. Region Lock won't be removed (well not much of a problem with VLC ...

Do we need an update of libmmbd or any other settings in VLC Media Player or MakeMKV?
Or maybe an update of VLC if they managed to put a bug into their software.

Re: John Wick 2014 4K

It seems MakeMKV is collecting this information and adding it to the software like I’ve read Redfox does. Am I wrong. As much as I know, no, MakeMKV does not "collect" these informations and send them somewhere. MakeMKV just uses an installed Java and goes through the BluRay menu like a &...

Re: John Wick 2014 4K

Cinavia cannot be removed. Even DVDfab only claims to be able to do so for certain language tracks. But... this is not a problem at all, because most software players give a shit about the cinavia protection and will ignore it. Though I cannot give you a list, which players do. "Official" ...

Re: unable to decrypt iso files

I've never used dvdisaster , but it doesn't look like it deals with the bus encryption inherent to blu-rays and UHDs. To bypass this problem, place your BD into the drive, start MakeMKV and open the BluRay (so you see the titles and such). At this moment, LibreDrive is uploaded into the RAM of the ...

Re: Recommendation for a Amazon downloader?

As I don't think Amazon wants people to download any movies or series at all with any program, I'm kinda sure there is no "legit" program out there.

I don't know if yt-dlp has an Amazon extractor.

Re: Detectability of broken copy protection

As much as I know: DVD: CSS is basically an encryption. MakeMKV removes the encryption upon decrypting. Because there are not much meta files, this is irreversible. BluRay: AACS is basically an encryption. MakeMKV removes the encryption upon decrypting. MakeMKV then renames the AACS folder, where th...

MakeMKV only removes AACS while DVDfab also removes Java Protections like BD-J, Region Lock and so on.

Re: Lessons learned from backing up hundreds of discs

Also one has to consider the data density on such a disc.

The disc is always the same size, but for a DVD there's only 4.7/8.5 GB of data on it. But for a BluRay it's at least (up to) five times more. So one scratch has to be considered a much bigger problem for all data "below".

Re: Lessons learned from backing up hundreds of discs

We need an AccurateRip database for DVDs. There's a thread on DBPowerAmp suggesting the same https://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?46945-AccurateRip-Database-for-DVD-BR thing, but the replies are that it's not necessary. Clearly this is not correct. Too bad, http://redump.org/ only accepts du...

Re: MakeMKV BDMV Folder Backups of Planet of the Apes 50th Anniv Ed Not Playing

MakeMKV only removes AACS encryption. No region lock, no BDplus, no BD-J protection etc.

DVDfab Passkey helped for me with such problems. When rightclicking onto the tray icon there's a point for fixing BluRays. That might help you there.

Is it necessary for it to be "friendly"? ...Will you need it to make it 4K compatible?
More often than not manufacturers give out new firmwares to make drives (more) unfriendly at all.

What is the drive information MakeMKV lists on the right side when you start the program?
