Re: How to find which one is which episode?
What works for me is to extract all the files (I use makemkvcon for this purpose), then look at the file sizes. The really small files are almost certainly things like the FBI warning, trailers, menu videos, and other such. There'll be a group of (in this instance) five files with similar sizes - th...

Re: Query over upgrading to Mac Studio Max
My 2010 Mac Pro has an internal UHD-capable drive; in anticipation of my Mac Studio arriving (any day now; hurry up, DHL), I bought an LG BP50NB40 external drive. I needed to downgrade the firmware, then crossgrade to make it look like a BP60NB10. Both steps were easily done with the tools that come...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2022
7. to perform the flash, type "./makemkvcon f -d '/IOBDServices/D5D25996' -f /tmp/sdf.bin rawflash main -i /tmp/your firmware filename here This didn't work for me. I picked up a brand new BP50NB40, with what turned out to be the encrypted firmware version and tried to flash it using the above...

Resubmitted (for the second time - so the third submission) about a week ago, and they're ripping fine now. Thanks.

Re: Multiple Pixar UHDs - volume key unknown
No issues retrieving the hash key file. I deleted _private_data.tar from the MakeMKV directory, launched MakeMKV, and kicked off a backup of a 4K disc that I'd previously successfully backed up. It downloaded the hash keys just fine. Trying to backup one of the four Pixar discs continued to fail.

Multiple Pixar UHDs - volume key unknown
I bought the 4K box set of Pixar films in December. Four of them - Toy Story; Monsters Inc; Cars 3; and The Incredibles - would not decrypt. I duly submitted the dumps (in a single email) to svq@makemkv.com, and waited. They still won't decrypt. I resubmitted the dumps a little under a week ago (one...

Re: "automatic sdf downloading is disabled or failed" while decrypting
If you navigate (using a web browser) to hkdata.fairuse.org, you'll see a message saying "hosting disabled" (in Russian). This means that the issue is not on your side or mine - it's on the host that holds the HK data. There's nothing we can do about it except wait for it to be resolved.

Done. I swear, I did search the FAQ for crash, and it didn't come up with anything. Oh well..

Crash on Good Omens (disk 2)
Running MakeMKV to convert a Blu-Ray into MKV files on the second disk of Good Omens crashes, with a segmentation fault. This applies only if I try to convert a specific MPLS file; close investigation reveals that that MPLS file contains a concatenation of all the text-to-speech files for the menus....

Re: Drive Space Falsely Full?
Okay, I was wrong with my earlier post. You can't simply tell MakeMKV to go ahead - it'll fail, claiming a lack of free space. Instead, you need to get rid of the local Time Machine snapshots. The easiest way is to turn off Time Machine, wait a few minutes for the local snapshots to be removed, and ...

Re: Incorrect Free Space Reported
The issue is due to Time Machine. I'm currently being moderated if I post links (fair enough), so do a search on your favourite search engine for "time machine local snapshots", and hop over to the support document on Apple's website. The full details of what's going on are there. It's mos...

Re: Drive Space Falsely Full?
This is due to a combination of two things colliding. The first is the way that MakeMKV checks for disk space. I don't know the exact details - only Mike will know for sure (and any other developers that work on the codebase) - but you can get an estimate that matches the estimate MakeMKV gets by op...
