Re: Write to fast drive and then move to slow drive?
It's not the ripping I'm asking about, but writing the movie files from the backup. I could have been more clear in my OP.

Re: Write to fast drive and then move to slow drive?
Thanks for the information. It definitely writes from backup much faster to my SSD than my HDD, but then I have to move it to the HDD, so I figured it probably ends up the same if I just write the file from backup to the HDD. I was not aware of how damaging the large files are to an SSD. I'll be wat...

Write to fast drive and then move to slow drive?
This question is purely academic for people smarter than me. I have a couple of super fast SSDs for normal PC operation, and then I have some slower HDDs for mass media storage. When using MakeMKV to rip a disc, does it matter if I first rip to the fast SSD and then move to its final destination on ...

Re: My drive is struggling to recognize some UHD disks
I have decided that drive is dead. Had it for a good few years and ripped loads of BD and even many UHD. It was a good drive. But I'm fairly certain it is dead now. I got it to rip a few more disks after my initial post, but now it won't recognize any disk. RIP first UHD friendly drive.

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
I have this Pioneer 209M that has LibreDrive enabled but will not recognize UHD disks. Is it possible to enable UHD with this drive? Drive Information OS device name: Q: Manufacturer: PIONEER Product: BD-RW BDR-209M Revision: 1.34 Serial number: MJDL001638WL Firmware date: 2016-04-25 Bus encryption ...

Re: My drive is struggling to recognize some UHD disks
That makes sense, and is unfortunate. Is it still true that we can't flash new pioneer drives, can only purchase older firmware versions from a few resellers on the forum?

My drive is struggling to recognize some UHD disks
I got several UHDs for Christmas and have been working my way through ripping them. It started out fine, no issues with several. Then I got to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The theatrical versions were pretty uneventful, but I'm having a really hard time ripping the extended versions. For some reas...

Re: Mandolorian Season 2 Disc 1 rip errors
This is why I used imgburn to make a protected iso. I got 4 retries in that section of the disc but was eventually able to get a good read. Just enable libredrive before making the iso with imgburn and hope it can retry through that part of the disc. P.S. that is with my pioneer drives. I had to tr...

Re: Spider-Man: Far From Home UHD and subtitles
I may have answered my own question. I started to process the 1733 entry version in Subtitle Edit and I'm seeing a lot of British spelling that wasn't present in the 1725 version. For example, travelling instead of traveling, neighbourhood instead of neighborhood, tranquilliser instead of tranquiliz...

Spider-Man: Far From Home UHD and subtitles
MakeMKV produced 3 english subtitle tracks for Spider-Man: Far From Home (UHD). The first is the HoH (more descriptive) track. I assumed the other two would be English and forced (foreign language). However there is no forced track and the other two are very similar. When I put them through Subtitle...

I'm looking for a way to verify stream files on a previously made back up. Here's the situation: I purchased some BR/UHD combo packs in the past. Since I didn't have a 4k setup, I only ripped the SDR BRs. Fast forward many months and I now have a 4k setup so I am going back and ripping the UHD versi...

Create .iso from backup, which folders?
Before I start, let me just say I have searched the forum before asking this question.... I created some backups using MakeMKV and am wondering how to get those into .iso files. I know I need to use other software to create the .iso. What I don't know is which folders go into the .iso. When MakeMKV ...
