Re: After years of success, 50% of my discs are failing in the last few months
I'm pretty confident your issue is related to a failing BD drive. I've had a similar issue as you have and now that I have a new drive my issue is gone. Next time I'd get a Verbatim drive. This one seems pretty quiet and quick compared to other drives I had before this one (LG, Pioneer). Best of luck.

Having trouble ripping Batman The Complete Animated Series 12-disc BD box-set
For some discs... some-to-several of the episodes will be missing from the rip, some episodes will have blank audio and ripping per disc is taking an extraordinary long time. I unplug my external LG BD drive and restart my Mac computer fully between each rip attempt, just to ensure nothing silly is ...

Re: Mac user. I wish to have my "BD-RE WP50NB40" region free. Can anyone help?
I’m still none the wiser as to what exactly flashing is or why it’s needed. I’m not trying to be smart, I’m only looking to know what flashing is or what it enables. I don’t see my drive listed on the page you linked to: WP50NB40. I don’t wish to use the wrong firmware. For convenience, or if needed...

That's just it, is it possible to flash my drive (HL-DT-ST BD-RE WP50NB40) and what does flashing the drive do exactly?mike admin wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 2:44 pmAs for the hardware, here is the recipe (assuming you've flashed a LibreDrive firmware)

Cheaper buying a new drive how? If I did end up buying one, however, which brand would you recommend? 1. Because you may have to end up spending a lot of time and/or money trying to find that “unicorn” of a drive from many places that claim to have/sell a “Region Free” PC drive. Which in reality, m...

Similar topic discussed here: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=23487 And as discussed there, you are attempting to go down a more difficult (and in most cases near impossible, less reliable, or more expensive) route in attempting to find such a drive for various reasons. Also ...

Re: Errors reading a DVD. Help
The DVD is one of the discs present in a box set. Almost all the other discs in the set are fine. Yes, but even if the other discs work okay, that doesn't mean that one disc in a set can't be bad for various reasons. Anyway I'm afraid I don't have much more insight, but perhaps some of the other me...

Re: Errors reading a DVD. Help
Did you read the info in the link? I did, just wondered if someone recognised the specificity of the error. I don't think I've seen this exact error before. You may want to let us know what the DVD is (and title your thread more specifically as well). Sometimes when getting errors on DVDs, I go bac...

Errors reading a DVD. Help
The DVD plays fine in my PS3. Hmm? This is a part of a box set and most of the other DVDs in this box set seem fine via my Mac, except a few stragglers. MakeMKV v1.15.3 darwin(x64-release) started Optical drive "BD-RE HL-DT-ST BD-RE WP50NB40 1.01d" opened in OS access mode. Using direct di...

Best external BD drive for Mac?
LibreDrive? Why? Which brand and model? Also, if possible it would be great if the drive came in a housing and wasn’t too large. Should be able turn rip all DVDs and BDs and should already be region-free or be able to be made region-free. Any help gratefully appreciated. - - - I’ve had issues with m...

Re: Flashing firmware on a Mac for LibreDrive
The -d argument is to tell makemkvcon the optical drive you want to flash the firmware to. You're missing that part in your command. I'm bewildered by all of this. I just wish to make my external LG optical drive region-free (BD-RE WP50NB40). Where does the "-d argument" part go? I haven'...
