Re: Cannot read Valerian
I’ll try a different disc. But I appreciate you letting me know about the difference between BD-66 and BD-100. That seems to be a very logical reason why I would be able to play the Avengers IW and EG, Alita, and Thor with no problem, but no luck at all with Valerian.

Re: Cannot read Valerian
Thanks. That’s a shame. I just looked up a list of BD-100s and there are several other movies on that list I was hoping to rip. Tried cleaning the disc but it looks pristine. I’m pretty hesitant to take the drive apart. Being on the cutting edge can be frustrating sometimes. I guess I should have bo...

Cannot read Valerian
I have a WH16NS40 drive flashed to 1.02 firmware. I’m using a recent version of MakeMKV, installed within the last month. I’ve used this drive to successfully rip a few UHDs, including the Avenger infinity War and End Game discs. But when I insert Valerian UHD, and open MakeMKV, I get the crunchy se...

Re: MakeMKV Batch Converter
This utility is excellent. It could potentially save me hours converting my video_ts and BDMV library to MKV. I have only two questions: 1. Is it possible to change the output file name to remove the all caps and underscores? For example, I’d like “The Greatest Showman” to read like that - not THE_G...

Converting 7.1 audio to 5.1
I’ve run into a small hiccup using Plex to stream 4K movies. Basically, it doesn’t work with 7.1 audio. But it does work with 5.1. And on one of my 4k discs (Avengers Endgame) and possibly others, the only 5.1 English track is for visually impaired. So can I use MakeMKV to rip lossless video while c...

Re: Problems converting from file structure to mkv
That worked! Outstanding. Thank you so much.
I’m actually going to be using Plex to stream once I get all set up, rather than playing thru VLC, but hopefully there will be a similar configuration for Plex. I’ll at least know to look for it now.

Re: Problems converting from file structure to mkv
Ok. Built the new HTPC, it boots, it’s got a trial version of Win 10, and it’s screaming fast. Step 1 complete! Step 2, just used MakeMKV to rip one of my blu rays (Disney Planes - first thing lying around). The video played back in VLC is flawless. The new system has solved the video corruption!! S...

Re: Problems converting from file structure to mkv
I’m not mixing the problems. I’m experiencing two problems, and posting about them both. It is possible that one - the audio - isn’t actually a problem at all. The corrupt video certainly is. I thought the word “receiver” was pretty self-evident. I’m referring to an AV Receiver. In my case a Sony ST...

Re: Problems converting from file structure to mkv
I'll try MediaInfo tonight. I can't say for certain that MakeMKV is messing up the audio. All I know is that when I play the movie directly from BDMV, my receiver shows DTS-HD. When I play the MKV version, my receiver shows PCM. Maybe the audio is just as good - I didn't test that thoroughly. Hopefu...

Re: Problems converting from file structure to mkv
Nope. Direct HDMI from PC to Receiver. More testing with more movies, same results. Pixelation. Always at the same places no matter which player I use. There’s a problem occurring with the encode. But I also tried a different BDMV to MKV conversion program and am getting the same exact problems. So ...

Re: Problems converting from file structure to mkv
I skimmed through that thread but didn’t see anything useful. I’ve already ripped the correct track to BDMV and am just trying to convert to MKV. Likewise, when I used MakeMKV to rip direct from disc, I selected the correct track. In both instances, the result has been exactly the same. I tried upda...

Re: Problems converting from file structure to mkv
When I enable “expert mode” in settings, I now see a “profile” drop down just below the make mkv button. This drop down is set to default. I have run a number of tests and I’m getting the same result. First, I tested my existing blu ray rip (BDMV) and it is flawless. DTS audio, perfect video. Playin...

Problems converting from file structure to mkv
I have a ton of movies that are either in video_ts (dvd) or BDMV (blu ray) file structure on my old media server. I want to use MakeMKV to convert them to lossless MKV so I can use them in Plex. Problem is, I’ve tried a few conversions and they’re not working. For one, the audio is getting compresse...
