Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

How would I import the AVS file into StaxRip? Can I add it to an existing preset? You can use an existing preset and just drag/drop the AVS file onto Staxrip after selecting your preset. I was able to get everything setup I just have one question its about the MaxCLL, MaxFall & Mastering Displa...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Then don't forget to inject the original FEL RPU back into the HEVC file output from Staxrip/x265.exe after that compression process is complete. Huh? No, you're supposed to be using a profile 8.1 RPU in the final video. Correct, small mistake in my instructions above. I've edited. I meant to say i...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Ok thanks I’ll do that I have a i7-13700k so it takes about a day but it works. The part RESET mentioned about knowing your way around x265.exe is critical. I've found the following would be a good starting place: Non-grainy live action sources: --crf 12 --preset slower --output-depth 10 --rskip 2 ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

What’s the best way to convert BL + FEL expanded movies now. Is it using Resolve/CM Analyze or Baking FEL into the base layer. What I used to do was Bake FEL into base layer is that wrong now? Or is it better to just use the script and use CM Analyze to generate whole new DV If you have a decent CP...

same settings as before
Including 1080p Cubic scaling?
Did Black Magic adopt the latest CM_Analyze algo/tools into Resolve?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

So what are the ideal settings to use now in the latest version of Resolve Studio (18.6 at the time of this post?)?
Are those results now identical to the latest version of CM_Analyze (5.4.0 at the time of this post?)?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Well, I have definitely seen flashes as a single shot in retail DV source... The Bad Guys animation movie is one I remember because it confused me when I did my P8 hybrid remux. There are even flashes in some HDR10 releases... The 2017 US Lionsgate UHD BD of La La Land (2016) even has flashes in it...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Why isn't converting HDR10+ to Dolby Vision not recommended? Is this because the Dolby Algorithm is just better or are there other reasons? Because you can now supply an HDR10+ file to the 3-1 process which will provide you with a Dolby Vision file using Dolby's latest algorithm and the original HD...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

@RESET_9999 can I use your scripts to streamline using DoViBaker? If so, what's the proper process for doing this so I can accomplish the following: 1. Encode to a lossless format (ideally ProRes 422 HQ) from DoViBaker using your scripts 2. I'd then like to separately encode the ProRes file to x265...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

And you recommend the trims being overwritten for the reasons you stated earlier, correct? But, just to make sure I understand correctly, can you confirm the following with regards to Resolve? CMv2.9 Analysis & CMv2.9 output = L1 CMv4 Analysis & CMv2.9 output = L1+L2 CMv4 Analysis & CMv...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

part actually true for both CMv2.9 and CMv4 analysis when outputting both when outputting CMv2.9 or CMv4? Or, do you just strip the L2 trims when processing with your script anyways? trims are reset to 0 or removed depending on your script configuration. You can set the script to keep the trims but...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

So for the resolve cmv4.0 output, a cmv4.0 device won't have any trims effect: only L1 + L3 but for a cmv2.9 device, automatic L2 trims will brighten everything below the tv capabilities and darken every thing above. Is the L2 part actually true for both CMv2.9 and CMv4 analysis when outputting bot...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

IMO, It's better to generate a new RPU in resolve because: 1- if you use hdr10plus, your min_pq will always be 0 2- HDR10plus avg_pq is VERY different than what Dolby Vision produces. DV has some specific calculations for the avg_pq. 3- with Resolve, you can make true CMV4.0 metadata (with L3) whic...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Do you/we have any idea why they're doing this? Is it better to just watch in HDR instead of DV for movies with FEL expansion if a FEL compatible player isn't an option? Would it be possible to re-write the L1/L2 metadata so it's corrected/"unexpanded"? 4 options: 1- just watch in HDR10 2...
