Re: disc "rips" to backup/X but files contain no data
OMG! I'm an idiot. I just didn't see the DECRYPT FILES TICK BOX in the pre-roll popup window. Thanks! When I do a "rip to mkv file" the UHD data gets decrypted and stuck into a matroska container that plays. I don't know why a full backup won't work. I think I'm doing the same thing I've a...

disc "rips" to backup/X but files contain no data
I'm trying to rip After Hours UHD. The AACS was finally updated, so I was able to rip and remux the main title to an MKV file just fine. The problem I'm having is trying to BACKUP the entire disc to an iso file or folder structure. MakeMKV proceeds as if it's doing its job, spends about an hour ripp...

how to create VUK from AACS dump file?
Rather than wait for the MakeMKV team to create the VUK for every disc version, is there any way that we could create them from our own AACS dump files, and then share them for inclusion to everyone? I'm not really understanding why we must retain this bottleneck, not to mention extra work for staff...

Did you turn ON MakeMKV Preferences/General/Enable Internet access ? And are you sure your router/firewall/ISP isn't blocking your computer's access to makemkv.com? If so, you might also try trashing /Users/<username>/Library/MakeMKV/_private_data.tar And, as always: try turning it off & on agai...

Re: After Hours failing AACS 🥭
That's what I figured. I did read that "after sending dumpfile it may take 12-48 hours...or longer"; I just wanted to be sure I'd sent it to the right place, in the right way, and wasn't supposed to find a thread here somewhere. Yep. Patience grasshopper. https://em-content.zobj.net...

"After Hours" (1985) failing AACS 🥭
I emailed the dumpfile to svq@makemkv.com midday yesterday.
MKB20_v77_AFTER_HOURS_9F14.tgz
This disc has been out for THREE DAYS! Others have already ripped their copies. What's going on with MakeMKV... AND HOW are these other people ripping them already, when I cannot?

BBCode isn't allowing me to use any formatting tools, so this will look like crap...sorry.
EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED
TL;DR: if you !@#$ things up using the MacOS way, get ahold of a windoze box and use the GUI firmware do it all program.
I re-flashed directly to the "MK" firmware for the LG BP60NB10 drive using the GUI program:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/rak1mk0p ... 9.zip/file
and got the firmware .bin image (the one with "BP60" and "MK" in its name) from The all you need firmware pack:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/ph1ap2eg ... 9.zip/file
and it just worked! I moved the drive back to my Mac and it's ripping as I always expected it to! Thank you to everyone who made this possible! <3
I started down this road because when trying to rip a new UHD blu-ray with this new LG BP60NB10 I keep getting:
Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive
and then 99.9% hashcheck failures, resulting in ts files that will not play. This is still the case, even after all of the following took place.
I may have broken my firmware. I wrote DE_LG_BP60NB10_1.00_MK_HBD.bin
to it "successfully" once, but never again.

My first attempt, but then I saw that MakeMKV was still reporting the drive as "Possible (with patched firmware)" so I thought, "oh, that wasn't the bin from mike's repository, I should flash his firmware"

NOTES: I have tried with and without "--all-yes" and with "main" and "enc". All combinations continue to return "Write DRAM NG" error and fail to change the firmware according to MakeMKV.
I even attempted to put the BU40N firmware onto it, as I read somewhere in here that that was a potential solution. No joy:

I vaguely remember there being some reason to NOT "upgrade" beyond MakeMKV 1.10.7. Does anyone know what that was about?

How do you identify which *version* of the damn blu-ray it is? BestBuy/Target/Steel/Netflix/RedBox/Retail/etc./etc./etc.??? Has anyone figured out which track for each version is the actual damn movie?
screw it. I'll just re-read the book. Idiot MPAA.

Re: subtitles FAIL on "Les Cent et une Nuits" aka "101 Night
Oh! That's a very nifty feature. :-) Ok, I have done a *TESTDUMP* from the MacTheRipper disc image (which does play fine in VLC, audio, subtitles, and all). I don't know what I'm gonna do in the future, if MakeMKV can't rip a disc, as MacTheRipper no longer runs on these newfangled OSXes. :-( *TESTD...
