Heads up on Archgon BU40N
I just found that they are still selling the older flash-able bu40ns on amazon with the usb 3 micro b port and it was cheaper then their usb c version. Just grabbed 2 and both were bu40n revision u100 for firmware.

Re: LG BU40N vs Pioneer BDR-UD04
Thank you for the response, it does help me with my decision. I wasn't aware that the Pioneer drives had issues with reading games for archive purposes. Also, I have found the LG drives new apposed to the similar priced Pioneer drives which are usually used. DISCLAIMER : I've never owned a "tr...

Re: LG BP50NB40 - No MT1959?
If its an 1.00 revision then its is mt1939 and a bu20n internally and unable to flash. Don't try flashing it with the other flashers as it will just brick.

Re: WANTED: LG BU40N External USB C 3.0 Enclosure
Its more to do with the maximum rate at which the disc can physically be ripped, which is under 480mb which is usb2. Now I wish for a usb c enclosure for the higher power it can deliver but the rip speed wont be any different whether its a mini or c cable as long as its getting proper power.

Re: How to recover a damaged DVD (Linux)
I have used this method to rip some stubborn and scratched dvds that didn't want to work with makemkv... its hit or miss if it will work with a damaged disc but its worth a shot... Edit: fair note, if its an lg drive it will probably return junk data instead of trying to get the actual data due to j...

Re: LG BU40N enclosure
I know that the XRTFORE 4k reader looks like its permanently attached but internally its actually a plug too. Don't know for other cheap readers and enclosures but they look like they are all basically the same. I wonder why so many of these external cases have the cable permanently attached, been b...

I downloaded the sdftool flasher for my PC to try and use it for my Blu-Ray player, but when I open the tool, the box opens like this and I can't resize it to use it I have a Windows 11 PC. Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2025
I have been trying to find an Asus BW-16D1HT to flash for about 2 months. They used to be $99, then went up to $129, then several hundred dollars, and now for the past month there is absolutely none to be had anywhere. Can anyone confirm or deny if these have been discontinued? If not, is there any...

Re: PSA: New Archgon UHD drives do not allow flashing
I already did, as I said the drive itself works in the old enclosure. Its just the new enclosure that's the issue. Maybe mike can bypass the restriction in a future version of makemkv if that is the root issue.

Re: PSA: New Archgon UHD drives do not allow flashing

I already swapped and flashed it do bu40n 1.00 as Im running linux, my other bu40ns work perfectly fine... well one is dying which is I grabbed the new archgon. Drive Information OS devic...
