Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

True profile 8 ( BL + RPU ) in a TS container works just fine on LG OLED TVs as long as the first audio is lossy. I don't know what happens when eARC and passthrough are enabled though. Ok, I'll try this out later and let you know. I'll put the muxed profile 8 .HEVC in a .TS file in TSMuxer and we'...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Regarding LG WebOS players and DV inside .TS containers. They always seem to stutter, was there ever a fix for this? Then I use the latest nightly of TSmuxer to mux the resulting hevc + ac3 5.1 audio inside a .TS container (no HD audio or whatsover). Hi, what you want to do if you don't care about ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

I have a LG C1 and want to watch a Bluray ISO via USB/HDD. If i mount the ISO the format says: M2TS What are the steps to watch this bluray on my TV with Dolby Vision? Let me tell you what I have found. I obtained raw Dolby Vision demo files from "Dolby.UHD.BluRay.Demo.Disc.March.2018". O...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

I check on this thread every two or three months, and every time I see DV is still in disarray :(

External subtitles works in mp4.
You just have to name the srt file exactly like the mp4 file.

In general, yes, though some software has limited or no support for external .SRT files on .MP4 files (e.g., Windows Media Server).

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

They are both the wrong profile for an HDR10 base layer so the output might not be accurate. p4 is a dual-layer profile and p5 is single layer... so if the source is FEL and your TV support it, p4 will be better even if it's the wrong profile for HDR10 BL. Thanks, I'll use Profile 4 then. I saw in ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Question: Is there any quality difference if you encode the same file in Profile 4 vs. 5? My TV only supports 4 and 5 AFAIK. I note that Profile 4 still contains an HDR10 track so I can play it anywhere, but I can only play the Profile 5 file on my TV. Is there any quality improvement in Profile 5? ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Is there any way to get anything more than 640kbps AC3 in DV mp4s? For some reason my Roku TV can't skip around in the stream when playing .ts files, where I can put lossless audio. You can mux in DTS-HD later, whether the roku recognised the stream is another matter,!plex does in the shield, Zidoo...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1

The htpc side requires a few things. A splitter, a renderer, and a decoder that all support Dolby vision. With a standard out of the way the splitter could be done. The renderer is a bit more challenging. Usually we'd ask madshi to add support to madvr but he's just working on the envy release. Sti...

So are we saying there is now reasonable hope (expectation) that an htpc could be used within a few months?
HTPC’s have always been listed in Dolby's DV docs. I wonder what, if any, official implementation plans they have/had.

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1

Oh boy, this thread seems to be devolving into ad hominem rather than actual discussions about code quality and what's the most viable standard. Having standardized many a feature—probably with a wider user base than a relatively niche dynamic HDR format—there are, inevitably, workflows and code str...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

I usually encode everything in Profile 5 simply because the number is higher, but the only difference in reality is that 5 uses a PQ algorithm to recreate the DV colorspace while 4 has an explicit EL. eeek don't do something simply because a number is higher. like you said, profile 5 cannot utilize...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1

You missed one, a .ts generated with yuseope's tool in mode 1 plays in DV fine on my TCL Home Theatre DV TV. The only limitation being you can't fast forward or rewind. I was talking about the tsmuxer method only . no other tool except tsmuxer is needed for the x700 and the oppo. FYI, I remux the m...
