Re: SDF update November 2025

I don't get it, though I have avoided casing up some cheap drives from the red flags of the listings (Chinese, too cheap, too many available, and sharing identical photo sets). AliExpress and eBay both are very strict, and side with the buyer pretty much every time, forcing either no physical retur...

Re: SDF update November 2025

the proliferation of Chinese sellers on eBay (I smell fakes but could be wrong) What is happening on eBay and Ali Express is they have smelled chum in the water. They get their hands on something like a BDR-PR1JAME, an essentially useless drive, and they sell them with the note "We have variou...

Re: SDF update November 2025

Few notes about UHD and cross-flashing - I'm not the person who wrote the crossflash tool, although I know all the details about the process. - Currently the flashing process is quite fragile, in many senses. It carries a risk of bricking the drive and it (ab)uses certain firmware vulnerabilities, ...

Re: SDF update November 2025

What is the current status of the BDR-212DBK 5.25" internal drive? As far as I am aware, all 212DBK's still have firmware that is pre 12/2022 so can be cross-flashed (unless someone has updated it). Thanks. Does the cross-flashing involve an additional cost? Are there any other Pioneer 5.25&qu...

Re: SDF update November 2025

Because the person that wrote it does not want it publicly available. Why not? I understood that logic when Pioneer were producing drives but now that they aren't and Libredrive is being enabled across many more drives, what is the issue? I don't want to speculate. The author asked us not to share ...

Re: SDF update November 2025

Most of these drives can be crossflashed for UHD. How? Why can't the flasher be made available for download now? Because the person that wrote it does not want it publicly available. Why not? I understood that logic when Pioneer were producing drives but now that they aren't and Libredrive is being...

Re: SDF update November 2025

That is a surprise. Pre-2022 drives are used as-is for UHD ripping, or so it's claimed elsewhere. I always thought the only reason newer drives couldn't be used for UHD was the lack of LibreDrive. Who told you this? Even if it is a pre-2023 Pioneer with LibreDrive enabled, it does not mean it will ...

whoops, typo on the name, but the stuff from here.
Thanks for confirming.

I'll try this with my LG BH16NS55 which is cross flashed to the WH16NS60 1.02MK firmware.

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2025

Just wanted to offer advice in case you're having issues with your drive not reading discs suddenly. My LG WH16NS60 stopped reading after some read/opening errors on a with one disc and then wouldn't open a disc I was just using. A power cycle didn't rectify so figured I'd try using the SDK Tool to...

Yes, these drives tend to die early. One of mine already after 1 year.
Mine has lasted over 6 years, so I'm pretty happy with that. During that time, there were probably less than 5 UHDs that it couldn't rip.

Re: SDFtool Flasher

I think my drive has had it. It read the cleaning disc and it will read CDs but nothing else, even after cleaning.

Re: SDFtool Flasher

There are a couple of posts on the forum somewhere explaining how. You might have to do a bit of searching. OK, will have a look around. I have an external Pioneer (Verbatim 43888) drive too, so I'm not completely out of action. Buy a CD cleaning disc for your 5,25" drive. Well I never! I did ...
