Re: LG Original Firmware Flashers (to return to original firmware)

Yes thanks. I meant back to original NS55, which the drive label states it is  .

There's a LG universal flashing tool which recognize the right model or firmware by itself.
Would this tool know what is the truly original if the drive was crossflashed.

Re: LG Original Firmware Flashers (to return to original firmware)

Just curious, probably won't ever need these original flashers. My BH16NS55 is crossflashed to WH16NS60. If I ever was to downgrade to original FW, which original flasher should I use. 55 or 60? I assume 55 or is workflow first crossflash back to 55 and then apply original 55 flasher?

Re: With OEMs LG and Pioneer No Longer Manufacturing Drives

I know this sounds mental  but I just purchased LG BU40N for "normal" retail price of ~84€ before the last stocks dry for good. I will put it in my second desktop build and install original 1.00 FW on it. The other one I have is on 1.03MK. I think I'm now covered for the rest of my e...

I did not realize that also LG has stopped to manufacture new drives. So basically it's existing stocks and then no more new drives at all.

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

Enclosed disc is probably just a CD-ROM or maybe a DVD-ROM. So different laser is used to read those older format discs. Your drive may have a faulty blue laser, which is used for BD discs. If you already tried several different discs without success then I think dirty or faulty discs are not the re...

Re: Converting UHD BD dvhe.07 to dvhe.08 with dovi_tool

I think I haven't seen any discussion about reversing this process? Does it make any sense? Is it possible to convert dvhe.08 source back to UHD BD compatible dvhe.07 (Profile 7 MEL)?

Re: MLP codec is not standard for BD disks

On BD format TrueHD audio must include legacy core ac3. It is mandatory! Typically backup softwares e.g. MakeMKV remove this core part when matroska is chosen output format as it is considered redundant. Use eac3to source.thd target.thd+ac3 A core part will be re-encoded and interleaved to existing ...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

I can confirm Verbatim #43888 is LibreDrive capable external Pioneer drive. I had it on 1.14 firmware (2020-06-15) from the box matching the following entry. PIONEER-BD-RW___BDR-UD04-1.14-489CDFD6-8A10-20200615 Although it does not matter MakeMKV this drive seems to be official 4K UHD BD drive with ...

I'm also interested to hear if Verbatim 43888 is now LibreDrive enabled as it seems to be Pioneer drive inside.

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

Great job re: Pioneer LibreDrive support! Are Asus branded drives (Pioneer clones listed in the first post) as good burners as "real" Pioneer drives. I'm planning to get one of these drives mainly due to amazing BD50 burning capabilities. For example these, which I could easily purchase fr...

Re: Star Trek: Wrath of Khan correct playlist

That particular release contains both the theatrical and director's cut versions of the film. That is the reason for two playlist  . I have to chime in here: that doesn't seem right. This is the UHD section. I don't think both versions are on the UHD. Please correct me if I am wrong. Both ...

I have BU40N in external enclosure and BH16NS55 (w/ WH16NS60 1.02MK) in PC tower. Seems like a good combination  .

Re: Playing UHD discs directly via libmmbd

Thanks alot for excellent tip Chewi! I tried again with MPC-HC and this time used its "Open DVD/BD" functionality. Now it works, even for UHD BD. Of course MPC-HC cannot do full menus but it allows easily to check certain playlists/titles containing the actual feature. Actually very nice ...
