Re: Doctor Who - The Collection (new BBC copy protection?)
I ripped Shada but not 100% successfully as at 1:31:58 the sound/video sync issue occurs. DVD plays fine with VLC and a stand-alone player but ripping it caused the problem, attempting multiple drives. This DVD contains the animated webcast version and may be newer than the one noted here. Do you m...

Re: How to use Multiple Angles?
It turns on that in theory this should be possible. In Matroska, an EDITION is a set of chapters that is presented to the viewer; you could define it as a “timeline”. Most Matroska files (and indeed most if not all other multimedia files) only has one edition. However, Matroska isn’t limited to just...

mkv 'd' flag
Mac version. When saving DVD to mkv, I've found that the first subtitle track gets the mkv 'd' flag set, which becomes default flag in the mkv. This causes the subtitles to be shown by default with vlc. I didn't test other players. It might not be strictly the first track, it might be that the first...

Re: Backup option greyed out for DVDs but not for blu ray
I'm using makemkv for mac. Just came across my first DVD that doesn't work correctly. I use DVDFab for mac. I copy full discs to a folder structure. I usually keep the PathPlayer option on, so DVDFab can scan and remove copyright and other startup messages. It does this by rewriting the first VTS or...

Re: How to use Multiple Angles?
infuse has limited BD support. it can directly select titles to play (i'm sure angles also, as these will be represented as a playlist). if that doesn't work, you'd need to use a HTPC setup, WMC, MacGo, etc. probably a waste of time. there are few multi-angle videos and in all this time you've only ...

Re: TV Show Extras--A slick way to handle this?
choose expert mode when ripping it and set the name to whatever you want plex to show.
for existing file, change the title property in the mkv. mkvpropedit or whatever tool you like.

Re: The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
in makemkv, you open the 'BDMV' folder, which is required to exist at the top level of the disc (iso in your case).

Re: The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
I'm guessing the error message is wrong then. If tsmuxer can make a video, then the data must already be decrypted in the iso. If the data is already decrypted, the volume key isn't needed. I see now that the error is when makemkv is reading from SPTI:\Device\CdRom0. Perhaps the problem is that make...

What do you mean you can extract content with tsmuxer? You can produce a watchable video?

automatic window size change
For BD backup, whenever the "Output file" field changes in size, makemkv changes the window size if the text doesn't fit in the current window. makemkv only grows the window size, it does not shrink if the text is smaller than the window size. This is super annoying. If the text is longer ...

Re: How to get DVD track names visible?
What do you mean exactly by "individual tracks"? An mkv file contains a single video track, and then multiple of other types of tracks. So when you say you open an mkv file "with the contents of a DVD" -- that doesn't happen. Each title on a DVD gets ripped to individual mkv file...

+1 would love this feature.
As a W/A, it isn't terribly hard to automate via mkvtoolnix after the fact.

I gotta say, I too am disappointed.
What is a recommended dvd backup program? Because makemkv complains about mine.
One that understands and doesn't fail on corrupt sectors and other schemes.
