Re: mkv bigger than DVD?

Hi, on some dvds there are alternate scenes (for different languages) and such on the dvd. makemkv will treat this is separate files as there is no easy way to select which one you want from mkv container.

Re: Rip DVD to VOB rather than MKV?

It sort of does unofficially. Start the streaming and browse to the page where the file you want is located and save that to your PC.

Re: "exactly same content as DVD, all information is preserv

Have a look at this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=149773 Basically at this point in time Matroska container does not support menus. No container supports menus. Even if it did there is no software that supports playing back menus in mkv. The only way is to simply dump the decrypted...

Re: Is MakeMKV open source?

Thank you, Mike. I still have a question: have you bought a license for Bluray Format Specifications? it is said that this license costs more than $10,000. If you bought it, you must be a millionaire; if not, not knowing the detailed format of Bluray, how did you develop this software? likely by re...

Re: Streaming issues

Hi, more likely it is a VLC issue. Try with mplayer instead to confirm (preferably from git)

when streaming, makemkv simply decodes the m2ts that's on the disk.

Re: What is the best possible outcome for ?TV?

Handbrake uses x264 which is leaps and bounds better than what compressor can output. Apples H.264 encoder is well known for being crap.

Default handbrake settings should be ok.

Yes upgrades to latest versions :) , and the license can run on multiple computers/operating systems, (just not running simultaneously).

makemkv has very friendly developers!

Re: Access The Menu

Yes if you use the full backup option. Must use full backup because MKV container does not support menus. However you will have a hard time finding a player that supports BD menu. AFAIK there is no official MAC Bluray software and the only open source project is still in development stages but may w...

Re: New to MakeMKV: Original Bluray Video and Audio

MakeMKV does not alter the streams. It simply dumps them into a MKV container.

Re: Why does MakeMKV Decrypt?

decrypting dvds takes a trivial amount of CPU power and actually happens during the mkv writing phase. the 'long time' is spent reading the disc structure and stuff.
