One more thing I noticed on the G5. The RGB white balance trick doesn't work to fix the DV raised black, not even at -6/-6-/6.
This sucks

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

But I noticed something very bad. In dark scenes, DV has some sort of ''falling'' noise/grain with diagonal lines. Not sure how to describe it. It's very noticeable in the 10% grayscale file, and even at normal viewing distance. https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/13SVBiy-lVWq28SsmydEdvN2ZGh...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

People are reporting hdr10 near black is too bright. Yes, I saw that in the AVForums YouTube review, and I think I’m noticing the same issue on my unit with the Kung Fu Panda sample. Pure black is truly black in all three modes: HDR10, DV, and SDR. I’ll be doing more testing this weekend. For now, ...

blacks are not raised in DV but crushed, even in cmv4.0 :(
There is actually no difference at all in DV black crush on this TV... cmv2.9 4.0, 10 000 4000 1000, all crushed the same at 72-73.
HDR10 and SDR are ok

Yeah HDR10 on the G5 is broken, no doubt. This is a lot worse than the C2: https://slow.pics/c/AYrYCbvm
Where's the issue in that pic? I see no banding or posterization.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Just used your files to test black crush. SDR looked the most accurate—I could see all the flashing bars up to 65 from my seat (1.2m from the 65-inch TV). HDR10 crushed blacks more; in order to see the 65 bar, I had to move my face closer to the screen. Dolby Vision was by far the worst—I could bar...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

I haven't watched it, but if you restore CMv4.0, it shouldn't be more crushed than HDR10. The movie is 99.99% under 500 nits, but the trim does have a couple of shots that get darker because of the slope adjustments. If I recall correctly, your TV has a target higher than 1000 nits, so that won't a...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

@RESET9999 Do you mind checking A Complete Unknown (2024)? It seems the movie crushes blacks heavy. I tried raising the brightness slider on my a95l from the default 50 to 51 and a lot of shadow details became visible, but that surely was not the right way to do it. Is there a dolby vision test patt...

Yeah, I'm hearing the same from the G5. It's a good thing we can generate DV for everything.
Not pc gaming though.

For Nosferatu (2024), if my cmv 2.9 bluray version is extended cut and your cmv 4.0 RPU is theatrical then they won't work together, right?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

@RESET_9999

I'm working on cmv 4.0 transfer for the movie Mufasa: The Lion King (2024). Frame difference check shows 0 difference. When I run 2-3, the scene_cuts.txt files are generated (which also say no differences) but the RPU_verify_sync2.bin is not generated. Is that normal?

Hmm then what's the point of making it a setting in cpm build?
