I had read that ccextractor was bundled with the OSX releases but it would seem you need to "brew install" it.
still failing to extract the Subtitles track though, investigating why

ok so the subtitles track generates the error. The track is as follows:
Subtitles CC->Text English (Lossy Conversion)
is the conversion process failing as maybe missing dependencies (guessing)

yes I get the quality issue, this was more to understand the meaning and root cause of the error as its affecting all region 1 DVDs

This seems to affect all region 1 DVDs on my setup although they play fine with VLC and the standard DVD player. I cant work out what the issue would be. Hello, am either doing something stupid or missing a trick. In any case I can get anything useful about the segments of a disk using the command line (OSX High Sierra / MakeMKV 1.14.3 licenced). Hello, The 'Comment' property is interesting in identifying the 'extras' in the extracted files. I can only get it on some Blu-ray though and in particular from Lionsgate when the JRE used. Is there a way to get DVDs and other blu-ray metadata so that file identification is easier than going through...
