Re: LibreDrive support in other applications?
LibreDrive, as I understand it, prevents a drive's firmware from stopping the rip of a movie. It does not defeat the CSS/AACS protection schemes used by commercial DVDs or Blu-rays. As such, it won't, on its own, allow for disc playback. There's a pretty good explanation here: https://makemkv.com/f...

LibreDrive support in other applications?
I've got a Kodi box running on a Rock64 SBC that can't run MakeMKV due to lack of required binaries. But as I understand it, the LibreDrive concept does not necessarily require MakeMKV to function, only an application that uses LibDriveIO. Is it currently possible for Kodi to playback Blurays on the...

Re: Wall Street 2 fubared my drive :-/
Yes, of course. My HTPC is a Linux box and MakeMKV is the only way to watch Bluray discs in Linux. Since I originally posted, I've tried this a couple more times and don't always get consistent results. Sometimes it makes it past the AACS stage again, failing at the BD+ removal. Sometimes it just gi...

Wall Street 2 fubared my drive :-/
So Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps was released on Tuesday. It arrived today via Netflix. According to MakeMKV, it employs AACS v19 and BD+. It successfully decrypted the AACS then moved on to BD+. It failed with an error about sqv files. I hadn't specified a dump directory so no dump was made. Afte...

Re: V1.6.3 on Ubuntu 10.10 64bit gives errors
I used to get these errors as well when I was using a drive removed from a standalone BluRay player. The drive had had its keys revoked and so the standalone player didn't work. While connected to the computer, that drive would not work with MakeMKV (same errors you posted) though it worked fine wit...

Re: New to Blu Ray, trying to view on MythTV
I can't help you with MythTV, but I can tell you that XBMC, Boxee, mplayer, and Xine all work great with VDPAU. There's even a fantastic makemkv plugin for XBMC.

Re: Ubuntu can't play MKV files?
Heh, well this is a first degree fiasco now, isn't it? Try grabbing the Flight Sim demo video here: http://samples.mplayerhq.hu/V-codecs/WVC1/ and see if it will play. If not, then the problem is with mplayer, your video setup, or both. If it does play... well let's cross that bridge if we come to it!

Re: Ubuntu can't play MKV files?
Okay, did some more investigation. Try this mplayer line and see what you get: mplayer -ao null -vc ffvc1 This will force the use of the ffmpeg VC1 library and disable sound (for troubleshooting purposes). I downloaded the 15mbps VC1 sample from here: http://samples.mplayerhq.hu/V-codecs/WVC1/ and c...

Re: Ubuntu can't play MKV files?
Not a potential customer in a million is going to go through what I have endured these past 2 days to get viewable results. The few hardcore hackers who can and will won't need to buy a GUI anyway. They will use the freeware command line version. I expect that MakeMKV's Linux revenues will prove my...

Re: Ubuntu can't play MKV files?
Agreed, and if that doesn't work, please post the output of: xvinfo The mplayer output indicates that mplayer is recognizing the video codec properly. There is also an error with the DTS audio track. That's decodable on Linux but for some reason it seems not to be compiled in. To play the AC3, add t...

Re: Ubuntu Example Machine?
Bluray on Linux is still in its early stages mainly because of the DRM problems. MakeMKV is the first (and only, AFAIK) program to reliably sidestep the DRM problem and losslessly remux content into an open container. That's what the product is designed to do, and for you, it's working perfectly. Ma...

Re: Ubuntu can't play MKV files?
Okay, that helps. Yes, CPU is plenty fine. Yes, Xine is temperamental. Try running it from the terminal to see if it gives you any more useful information. It probably won't. Mplayer from the Ubuntu repos is 64-bit if you're running the AMD64 version of Ubuntu. It should also support multithreading ...

Re: Ubuntu can't play MKV files?
More info needed. What hardware do you have? Particularly CPU and video card. Also why not just install mplayer from the repos? Finally, what errors do you get from Xine on crash?

Re: SCSI errors
No, this is not an external drive. It's a SATA drive that identifies as "SUNEXT BDROM V8402BH98." I get these same errors when running as root.

SCSI errors
I first tried MakeMKV a couple months ago at version 1.4.11 and couldn't get past the authentication failure errors. My posts are in this thread . I just downloaded 1.5.6 hoping maybe I would be in luck. Unfortunately not. I seem to be getting the same error as before. Debug log started at Wed Jun 9...
