Just wanted to leave some positive feedback for Asmcom.

Ordered three Hitachi BU40N drives (1-00DE) on Sunday evening and they arrived on Tuesday morning - much earlier than expected.

I’m using macOS, and all three worked perfectly straight out of the box with MakeMKV. No flashing, no tweaking ...

Are there any differences between the BU40 and the BP55 or is it just the enclosure and colour that are different?

Also is there any reason to pick the MK firmware version over the DE?
