Re: No disc error on Fedora Workstation 41
Just because the Mac is supplying enough power via USB-C does not mean that the PC is. Agreed, but I don't see any indication that it's a power issue. The drive spins up just fine. It initially does see the disc, just when you hit the button to decrypt, it comes up as No Disc after spinning for a a...

Re: No disc error on Fedora Workstation 41
It sounds like the drive is not getting enough power. Can you use an external power supply to test it? No, there isn't a port to supply power other than the USB-B input. I've seen other references online of others having issues with this drive on Linux. It's plugged into a USB-C port, the same as w...

Re: No disc error on Fedora Workstation 41
Update: I swapped to a different external drive (was HL-DT-ST BD-RE BU40N 1.03, is now Pioneer BD-RW BDR-UD04 1.14). Both drives work on MacOS X. Only the Pioneer works on Linux. I can now use both drives simultaneously, but I'm just curious why the BD-RE BU40N doesn't work on Linux. It does show up...

No disc error on Fedora Workstation 41
Good day, I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with my installation of Makemkv. I have the latest version with the beta key installed, and the app launches just fine, and sees my drive. When I insert a disc in, the drive spins up, and eventually tells me No Disc. I tried 4 different discs, and I had ...

Looking for Pioneer external drive in US
Good morning, I currently have a BU40N FW 1.03 drive that works most of the time, however, I have several discs that it constantly throws errors. I'm talking about brand new, UHD discs. One of them (MIB II), I went back to the manufacturer, they sent me a new disc, and it still wouldn't read the dis...
4K tracks
Maybe I'm missing it, but is there a way to determine the language for the video container on a 4K disc? I made a backup of Toy Story, and the title credits are in an asian language (Korean maybe). Short of ripping all possible tracks, is there a way to determine what container is what before ripping?

Re: UHD drives
The absolute best “UHD-friendly” drive at the moment is ASUS BW-16* series. Is this still accurate for the "best" UHD-friendly drive? The post is a couple of years old, and I'm not sure if it's been edited since then. I have a LG WH16NS40 with Firmware Revision 1.02, and it only works som...
