Re: External Drive?

Gotcha. I suppose that makes sense. I've never put a drive into an enclosure before. I do still have my original drive. It's an ASUS BW-16D1HT. I assume any drive fits in any enclosure? I dunno, I'll check the link you provided and go from there. Thank you!

External Drive?

Hello everyone. I just recently built a new computer and I guess the thing now a days is that cases don't have drive bays for these things anymore and it's all RGB coloring everywhere. That being the case, I figure I need to buy an external drive. Is there a "go to" external drive for ripp...

Alright I flashed the firmware you said, and now MakeMKV just says this: --- Drive Information OS device name: D: Manufacturer: ASUS Product: BW-16D1HT Revision: 3.10 Serial number: M6IIAOF2554 Firmware date: 2119-01-04 10:14 Bus encryption flags: 1F Highest AACS version: 65 No disc inserted --- Goo...

So I bought a new drive. Can someone please help me so I don't brick this one?

Alright so my last thread was all about my drive not working, I was told to flash it, I did, it bricked. Blah blah blah. Moving on. Now I bought a new drive. This is what I see when I open MakeMKV: Drive Information OS device name: D: Manufacturer: ASUS Product: BW-16D1HT Revision: 3.03 Serial numbe...

Re: I'm sorry, I can't figure out this Libredrive thing.

I understand you want the business, but reading your thread didn't even give a price, and this was something I needed rather quickly. I don't know your presence on the site so I don't know how fast you would have responded and/or even sent out a drive, let alone how much you were charging on top of ...

Re: I'm sorry, I can't figure out this Libredrive thing.

I bought it from Amazon, so I assume it's a new drive. I'm sure there's a way I can tell once I get the drive? I'm a pretty technical person and even work in IT, but this sort of thing has been so far out of my realm it's crazy.

Fuck it, I ordered the BW-16D1HT as recommended by st4evr.

Re: I'm sorry, I can't figure out this Libredrive thing.

What about the LG WH14NS40? The firmware pack already has the firmware included for that drive. I can handle flashing it myself at this point, my only issue is that my current drive couldn't handle it. I assume the LG WH14NS40 can handle it then? Plus it's $30 cheaper than the ASUS BW-16D1HT.

Re: I'm sorry, I can't figure out this Libredrive thing.

I'm not gonna lie I'm actually terrified of spending $80 on a drive and flashing more firmware provided by this site that has already bricked my current drive.

Understandably according to you it was due to the age/manufacture of my drive, but none the less it left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Re: I'm sorry, I can't figure out this Libredrive thing.

Well I'm glad I got at least one piece of useful information on this site then. Thanks for your honesty, st4evr. Makes me pretty upset that I actually spent the $50 on this software now knowing that I have to spend another $60+ on another drive.

Re: I'm sorry, I can't figure out this Libredrive thing.

The drive was purchased in 2014. Honestly I don't see that as relevant though, it has worked perfectly on it's own and with MakeMKV until these updates concerning LibreDrive.

Re: I'm sorry, I can't figure out this Libredrive thing.

Now after rebooting my computer my drive isn't even recognized on my PC. It doesn't show up at all in device manager. Did this just destroy my drive?
