I'm going to give a caveat answer to your question. ASSUMING it comes with 3.03 then making it LibreDrive compatible is fairly academic at this point. I'd use the patched Windows flasher and flash Mike's MK 3.03 on it and be done. My caveat is that if it comes with 3.10 that ASUS just released, it ...

As long as you have a proper firmware on the drive, then yes it's LibreDrive compatible. And yes, it's a very good drive. I've been using mine for over a year and some change now. I can only comment directly on what I own. My current setup uses an ASUS BW-16D1HT and an LG WH16NS40 for primary duties, and both work well for DVD and BD. The Pioneer gets high marks, EXCEPT when it comes to UHD. It is not currently supported, and may never be, for ripping UHD. The LG works for everything, but, depending on its firmware, may need to be "reflashed" for UHD capability. There are also ASUS models with similar specs (and they s...
