I would say, yes, backups are definitely worth it.

Re: Blu Ray Rips have Green artifacts, screen tearing, and afterimages.
Whenever I see this in VLC, I turn off hardware decoding and it goes away.

Re: Are backups worth it in the long run?
Thanks for sharing! I think I might just keep the disks themselves as the backups and keep only the mkv as the digital portion. I can get 1/2 of the space back I have now. I'm worried about burning out the GPU/CPU so I don't use handbrake at all. I might look into it in the future. My transcoding r...

Re: How can I save a DVD to folder structure?
So extracting the iso is essentially making a folder structure? I was used to make it with AnyDVD and only used MakeMKV for the video files. And now I want to change the program for Xreveal or MakeMKV. Yup. Just extract it and you'll have the folder structure (or use Xreveal which will do it direct...

Re: MakeMKV to Handbrake Pipeline
Yes, I have the same idea as you. HandBrakeCLI.exe won't automatically load presets from the GUI application. That is what --preset-import-gui is for. The CLI does have its own set of built-in presets (you can use "--preset-list" to list them). From a cursory glance, they seem to match th...

Re: MakeMKV to Handbrake Pipeline
That's confusing. If it's in the GUI, --preset should just work, especially since the parameter is given as a user defined string. From a file is another matter, but I think the file option is what the OP wants. Obviously I don't use handbrake, so maybe you should give the OP an example (I also don...

Re: How can I save a DVD to folder structure?
I've tried to backup a DVD to folder structure but the app so far is only making a ISO file. Is this option not possible with a DVD? If so, how can I do it? Thanks. I usually just use Xreveal or AnyDVD to create a DVD folder. But can do it in two steps with MakeMKV. Generate an .iso file, then extr...

Re: MakeMKV to Handbrake Pipeline
Confusingly, handbrake also has the option: --preset-import-gui (Import presets from GUI config preset file). Because, unless you're going to use a predefined preset (--preset-list), you need load the preset(s) first, either with --preset-import-file or --preset-import-gui. Then you can select the ...

Re: What are your failure rate at ripping Blu-rays?
Ah nice thanks for the tips. Curious what kind of drives do you have? I've been testing out a few drives recently but so far I've kept the pioneer-212v, 43888(ud04), and xd05. Did had an LG and 43888(with bu40n) earlier but returned them cause I felt like I'm hoarding drives at this rate lol. Pione...

Re: What are your failure rate at ripping Blu-rays?
My blu-rays number in the several thousands. My failure rates is much less than 1% (maybe a dozen or so discs). I like to keep several blu-ray drives of different brands in my ripping machine (I realize that internally many brands are the same). I notices that there are some discs/drives that just d...

Re: TV Shows that also made TV movies
For Plex, I just disabled all the scrapers and told it to show me the actual folders. The main annoying thing is the "folder view" seems to reset with every update.

Re: TV Shows that also made TV movies
This is why I HATE all media streamers, players, servers, etc. (e.g., Kodi, Plex). They all insist on doing the same thing. They want to scan all your files, inspecting their names, meta-data, etc., in order to build and organize a library. Then they want to scrape the internet for artwork, etc. Aft...
