What the fast drive I can buy that works or firmware that will make it work ?
Fast, dying early and skipping sectors of hard to read discs: LG, Safe, durable: Pioneer with old firmware. Your choice.

Re: WH14NS40 not working with Unitek Y-1039

As suggested in the "Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2021" thread, I purchased a WH14NS40 (ROM version 1.05) and a Unitek Y-1039 (model # 93-Y-1039-US). However, the two do not appear to be working together. When I connect the device to my Windows PC I get "Unknown USB Dev...

Thanks for the suggestion, but no I don't see any sata connector when opening.
If you have an external HDD or a powered USB hub I'm pretty sure that power supply would fit your Pioneer drive. If that doesn't help it's most likely dead.

Re: are there any BU40N drives that are really not MT1959 platform?

Back then you received the advice to go for another enclosure or another SATA-USB adapter including a mini SATA - SATA adapter. So you didn't follow this advice it looks like. thanks and well, actually the advice for a mini-SATA - SATA adapter was my own advice. Eventually i decided to try another ...

use the command line tool to flash if sdf tool is not seeing it right
could you kindly point me to a guide how to use the command line tool?
Back then you received the advice to go for another enclosure or another SATA-USB adapter including a mini SATA - SATA adapter. So you didn't follow this advice it looks like. By just waiting your situation hasn't changed. Either you accept your situation or you try to solve it. This adapter is fairly cheap and supports flashing. And you tried a mini SATA - SATA adapter. Be aware not all SATA ports support flashing as well. Especially chips like Marvell that give you additinal SATA ports. Connect to the ports that are based on the Intel chpset. I have seen issues with AMD chipsets as well. The drive should report the hardware platform when connected.

Re: are there any BU40N drives that are really not MT1959 platform?
