Thank for your response.
In fact, I stopped MKV right after posting my message.
On checking the small files, I found they related to some interactive features necessitating access to Disc 2.

Snow White Diamond Edition
Something strange here:
I did not come across any error but Make MKV has identified 1 large file (23 gb) and another 430 files approximately with an average size of 780MB each. The estimated time is 18 hours (still running as I write this). Has anyone else experienced such a phenomenon?

Many thanks Woodstock. Apologies, I should have read the solutions for ripping errors
However, I ran MKV as administrator and it worked without problems.

Protection AACS v34
Hello, I have problem ripping a Blue Ray Disc that otherwise plays exteremely well on the BlueRay player of my music system. 1. I use an external optical drive to rip my DVDs/BluRay discs. MakeMKV works fine until it parses file AACS/Content001.cer and encounters Protection: AACS v34 . This generate...

Epilogue
I resurrected my old laptop running win 8.1
No problems at all. The disk was ripped as expected with no problems!
Apparently, after a recent Win10 update there are problems with some external drives. I will have to sort that one out.
Thanks to all for your help.

Many thanks Grauhaar.
I do hope Mike looks at this issue.
Yes, other discs are fine. This one appears to be heavily protected and issued in the UK.

Re: Error Messages
Many thanks.
I have used the Blu Ray drive with MKV see below: 'BD-ROM MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ-120 1.01'
The same drive works fine for other DVDs.
I will repeat the process and send you the log.
Best regards

Re: Error Messages
Many thanks for your response. The DVD is pristine in its cleanliness as it is new out of the box. Nevertheless, I have have air-cleaned it with the soft brush of the hand pump that I use for film negatives. You have helpfully suggested that there might be a hub crack, I have minutely examined the d...

Re: 5.1 Audio from BluRay
Thank you for your advice. My apologies for this delayed acknowledgement. Moribus, I did what you suggested and successfully created an .mka file for each chapter. :D Many thanks. The difficulty is that the audio (the BluRay is a musical) ending at each chapter is brutally cut on the fade out. :( An...

Re: 5.1 Audio from BluRay
Many thanks.
I used the open/save as MKV method.
I installed mkvtoolnix but from the gui cannot fins a way to extract separate tracks. I get the entire soundtrack as a .mka file.
The help file of the mkvtoolnix application shows the need for scripts.
Am I doing something incorrect?

5.1 Audio from BluRay
Am a newbie, so please bear with me. As I write this, I am using MakeMKV to back up my BluRay disc. I have checked only the biggest video file (38gb) and the English audio. (Have excluded subtitles and other languages) How do I go about 1) extracting the audio, then 2) splitting the soundtrack into ...
