Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Only DV5 with an IPT BL and DV8.4 with an HLG BL should trigger DV playback, because those are the only profiles supported by the ATV4K. It seems, that ATV 2021 does not use the RPU for HLG based P8.4 videos either. I checked with RESET_9999 videos. Very interesting, so I played those files (includ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
… Since you converted the DV7 RPU to DV8.1 with dovi_tool mode 2, but then presumably set the profile to DV5 with mp4muxer, that seems to be enough to get by Infuse's new checks and trigger DV. … Sorry I mentioned earlier I used yusesope mode 2 to create a STSL but you are correct on the latter par...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
... Correct, from Infuse 7.3.10 onward, any DV file with an HDR10 BL should display as HDR10 and not trigger DV on your display, because the ATV4K doesn't support any DV profile with an HDR10 BL. Only DV5 with an IPT BL and DV8.4 with an HLG BL should trigger DV playback, because those are the only...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I mean, there isn't really a workflow that goes from DV7 -> DV5 , is there? Because of the diff in color space, you'd have to re-encode the HEVC video stream. And if you have access to an encoder that supports IPT, don't you just have access to the DV software suite, such that you'd be able to comp...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
… The RPU contains trim data — adjustments for different brightness displays — often for 100nits (SDR) and 600nits. When your device's EDID indicates an 800nit max, the 100nit and 600nit trims are used to produce a picture that's as close as possible to the 10000nit or 4000nit or 1000nit master. Th...

Re: James Bond - Casino Royale, Spectre, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall
I purchased Skyfall & Spectre in UHD. My version of Skyfall has no volume key, submitted the dump few days ago. Was able to backup successfully without decryption. From what I read a hashed key could be made available within few days to a week. UPDATE: automagically after few days was able to ri...

Re: SDFtool Flasher
@beans if amazon UK return policy is similar to US/CA, then it’s no issue to return. I just returned the ASUS and got instead the LG WH16NS40. Details of firmware used are in this earlier post.
The LG seems quieter and more reliable than the other ASUS, at least in my experience.

Re: Question about read speed of WH16NS40
I just received the WH16NS40, cross flashed it to MK WH16NS60 1.02, I get 4-7x without speed control. I have ripped few 4K at the same speeds. I will try speed control next. BTW, no disc will explode or break nor will you have errors in the extracted data (in theory : -) )

Re: SDFtool Flasher
First, thanks to the OP for providing an easy to use GUI flashtool and for the continuous awesome general support :D I successfully cross-flashed an LG WH16NS40-NS50 1.05 sep 2020 (using enc option) to HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin (old folder in mk firmware pack). Happily ba...

Re: MakeMKV 1.15.4
The 2019 Shield Pro will play them with DV and Atmos, but there are picture accuracy issues, especially with FEL titles. According to another post (yours if I recall), it was mentioned the shield is only able to play single track dual layer DV. When one does a backup operation of an UHD DV disc in ...

Re: MakeMKV 1.15.4
Guys, If I use MakeMKV 1.15.4 to backup my entire 4K disc (containing Atmos and Dolby Vision) and not create an MKV file (I want the whole disc), will the Shield Pro be able to play DV and Atmos (from a backed up 4K disc)? Thanks I don’t think so, one capable media player that can play a 4K DV BDMV...

Re: Question about read speed of WH16NS40
Yes, that is the normal speed for "friendly" drives reading UHD discs. Yes, you can adjust the speed but if it is working well, please don't do anything. what about fast&furious speeds for the LG WH16NS40? I have set speed control (0=99) on ASUS bw-16d1ht and had variable success on U...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2021
From the recommended drives in the OP, is there one now that is reliable and super fast - I guess speed is an advantage. I'm an Apple user, is the Mac version of Make MKV just as good as the windows version. If not, I suppose I could look into a used windows laptop. How long does it take to RIP one...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
^^^ @priitv8 since using the nightly, its all working and followed your suggestions from some guide online. I created a ts and m2ts that I will try directly via Oppo USB then I'll try using the Emby server/app to see if serving either of those to the Oppo works. This should give a nice UI to browse ...
