Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
^^^ I wouldn’t call my camera shots anything worth much until I have a better capture device, learn the test pattern and check everything with my Oppo, which as we know can set to either player or TV led. That brings me to an earlier Q I had, what “device” do you use to capture screenshots in your m...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Took me forever to get some ok (not fully representative of what I see) shots with my old iPhoneX (RAW -> JPG): https://slow.pics/c/7Nmrryfs - atv22-inf752-E7.JPG: Using Infuse 7.5.2 (auto), ATV4K 2022 with LG OLED E7 - oppo-E7.JPG: Oppo player accessing pattern file over SMB, LG OLED E7 (nice to kn...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Multi-pattern performs much better in the colorspace conversion and clipping but blue still has banding (as noted before) Can you please explain what Multi.Pattern.1000nits P8 DV HDR10-newTVs.mp4 color space conversion box is supposed to show ? Using ATV4k->Infuse (P8 to P5)->LG OLED E7, I see 2 ro...

Taking screenshots
Sorry for this basic Q, what equipment or tools would be required to take DoVi/HDR screenshots: media/blu-ray player to TV ? not using a camera : ) & TV doesn't allow screenshots when in DoVi. For PC based tools, I realize that one can use a ffmpeg or mpv,... I couldn't try mpv as it seems gpu-n...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
… The only time the BL is full range is if it's profile 5. My question was how can the range be checked for a Dovi P5 BL or another profile aside from inspecting metadata? Sorry if it was unclear. Aside from RPU metadata full range flag, is there a tool or some means that can confirm that the video...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
sorry for this OT Q, is there a reliable method to check a DoVi BL video colour range (full vs limited) ? I have found few methods online that analyze the BL using ffprobe lavfi.signalstats.[YMIN,YMAX] where results may conflict with the metadata in either video container headers (ffprobe pc/tv) and...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks - if @RESET_9999 wants to update his test pattern repo, here's the corresponding one without cmv4 using dovi_tool/MP4Box: RPU.p8.1.L1.L2_cmv29-ONLY.mp4

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks @sw5163 , my main question is about the reason to include some cmv4 metadata in that test pattern labelled with cmv29. Is it to check a device DoVi’s implementation’s for handling of both metadata versions ? The test pattern does not play as DoVi nor respond to the changes in RPU metadata. In...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Hello, Is test pattern RPU.p8.1.L1.L2_cmv29.mp4 meant to include cmv4, what is the reason ? It would not display in DoVi nor respond to any RPU changes (fallback to HDR10). Only by removing the cmv4 frames that it worked on ATV21/22 -> Infuse 7.5/Auto -> LG E7. Thanks. dovi_tool info -s -i RPU.p8.1....

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
@nekno I re-created some DoVi mkv from my BD UHD and re-used the tools to create what I did a year ago. As you already know, yusesope tools convert P7 to P8 and mp4muxer slaps on a DoVi P5 header. It seems that is enough to fool Infuse to display DoVi so did my LG E7 internal player !!! So yeah &quo...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Found this 2019 comment from @reset_9999 the FEL and RPU test files can also be used to find out if your device uses the L5 active area metadata in the RPU. if it uses L5, there will be black bars otherwise it will be fullscreen. I'm not aware of any HDMI device that uses L5 metadata the way the TV...
