Good News!
I was just ripping the title, best audio and english subs.
I asked amazon for a replacement, it just arrived and I've successfully ripped FOTR1 EE and am now sailing thru ROTK2 EE.
This disks were squeaky clean. Must have been a microscratch that I could not see.

LOTR 4k Disks or LG BD-RE WH14NS40 problem?
Hi all, I just received my LOTR 4k set from amazon and began ripping the Extended Editions to my server. I've read the long LOTR thread and understand that these disks can have problems ripping. Drive: BD-RE WH14NS40 with patched 1.02 firmware OS: Win 10 MakeMKV: 16.7 FOTR 2, TTT 1 and 2, ROTK 1 hav...

Re: Knives Out UHD
Has anyone successfully ripped the redbox version Knives Out and, if so, which title is the movie?

Re: Custom firmware
Yeah, that sounds a little too scary and I'm not enough of a technogeek to even understand what's being discussed in that thread. I guess I'll just hold off until things become clearer and easier for me to understand.

Re: Custom firmware
mike seems to really like the 3.10. Are there pros/cons to each of these 3 options.
I absolutely don't want to lose any of the current functionality.
Which one would you recommend if you were in my shoes?

Re: Custom firmware
I've got an: LG WH14NS40 SVC Code: NS50 Firmware: 1.03 Manuf. Date: 12/17 I just happened to have this drive and had nothing to do with 4k discs when I bought it. I've only got 1 4k disc and no 4k display, but I figure what the hey. Should I be aiming at this 3.10 firmware or is this for Asus drives...

4K and HDCP 2.2
Hi all,
If you rip a 4k disk using Makemkv, does it remove the need to have a complete HDMI HDCP 2.2 chain when playing back?
The reason I ask is that my HTPC is Kaby Lake i3 but it only has HDMI 1.4.

Re: Passengers
Thanks very much captin.
I've got one of those LG WH14NS40, SVC Code: NS50, M. Date: 12/17 and 1.03 firmware.
Perhaps when the mood strikes I will attempt a downgrade and have at it.
At least I know it's possible.
Thanks again captin.

Passengers
I just received my box of the movie Passengers from the great retailer in the sky. Inside this 1 box is the BRD, the 3D BRD and the UHD disk. Yippie! All movies should be like this. I just ripped the 3D version (which is the reason I bought this box). I noticed that the 3D version just has DTSHD aud...

What software player are you guys using to playback 3D MVC rips?
Hi all, I just purchased my first 3D movie (Hobbit trilogy). I ripped each (mvc video) into mkv files with makemkv. I want to play them from my HTPC (Windows 10/KabyLake) to my Epson projector that uses 3D shutter glasses. I usually use Kodi (17.6 Krypton) to launch and play all my DVDs and Blu-Rays...
