Re: Jan 30, 2010 can extract PGS subs from mkv
in Terminal app increased font size to like 14 pts or something. Everything is TAB TAB TAB...after typing first or second letter (remember case sensitive) so impossible to make typos pretty much.

Obviously you two are not the target market for makemkv. Use the other cheaper products you mentioned. Move along now.

Re: Feature Request... Retain TrueHD 'AC3 Core'
AC3 your are "seeing" is simply metadata telling it to downmix within the TrueHD stream. There is no AC3 core like you say although technically an AC3 track could be "carried independently" (NOT WITHIN TRUEHD stream). There simply isn't a need as all TrueHD receivers are capable ...

Re: How to access the subtitles?
It appears Handbrake is in the process of decoding PGS subs. I'll be happy if they can just pass them thru (keep them intact). So it appears it will become reality soon I hope.

Re: How to access the subtitles?
Gonna check out development release of Handbrake haven't been following lately. But once Handbrake (if it does) support PGS subs then it'll be so much easier. This last week a few major releases occurred with regards to Bluray PGS subtitles. ffmpeg which most likely will be used for WD TV Live Playe...

Re: Guide to convert PGS subtitles to idx/sub subtitles in osx
Yes this is way to do it and was gonna write a guide doing it this way. However, still waiting to see if PGS subs are going to be supported by WD TV live player for instance like the new VLC player and others. If so then no need for this method but this is easiest way to do it without using Windows ...

Re: Fatal error with Chronicles of Riddick
You can watch blurays on Mac with makemkv. Select file and stream. Copy a title stream URL and paste in into VLC and voila.speters415 wrote: So I selected both titles with the DTS HD lossless, yes I know that there is currently no way to play them back from a mac but I am sure there will be in the future.

Re: BD drives
With MakeMkv 1.5.0 we no longer need to use Bluray Combo drives (those that burn dvd/cd too) just read BD that's it. I also have a lite-on 8X reader/combo and realistic rip speed is 4X. Same too about 30 to 45 mins per rip.

No idea if this is the case but go into System Preferences | Accounts | and right click on Name of account if it's Standard and check the box "Allow user to administer this computer"

type
cd /V
then hit TAB key which will list
cd /Volumes/
hit TAB key again and it'll show you your HD label or any network shares you are connected to in Finder.
type first letter (remember it's case sEnSitive) and hit TAB again to complete.
in my case it is
cd /Volumes/1TB/

Re: Help, Newbie question on Blu-ray, MKV, VLC and ripping OSX
I can not open any mkv in quicktime on my mac it won't let me. Also only viewed them in VLC. Once tried Perian but that is a joke as it tries to load the entire mkv if on my network before playing it (fail). Once you rip it to .mkv to your hd with makemkv the copy protection is removed. If it plays ...

Re: Help, Newbie question on Blu-ray, MKV, VLC and ripping OSX
What's the specs of your Mac? Probably anything less than 2.0Ghz Duo Core you'll have issues with stuttering although audio will play smoothly. If you rencode it to h264 with handbrake then perhaps you can play it fine with a slower Mac than that even. Can you stream it in VLC directly from the blur...
