Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Yes I'm sure it triggers DV and yes, I play it on x700.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I have downloaded it again from these links and it is the same - no clipping with 1000nits MDL and neither with real content.
Maybe my TV (G4) completely ignores DV if the MDL is 1000 regardless the actual L1 values.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Sorry for the wrong information, I have tested only the 1000 MDL file, which doesn't clip in any profile. The 2000 and 4000 do clip.
But it is still weird that the 1000nits MDL doesn't clip.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Do you please have a clipping test in profile 7? Because when I tried your clipping pattern in profile 5, there was no clipping on x700.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks, so from your experience, would it look better to watch it in DV with clipping or in just HDR10 without DV?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 2:38 pmif it goes over 4000nits, there's nothing you can do about it, it will clip.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
So if the L1 values are higher than MDL, it is better to generate new DV metadata with higher MDL, right? But what about the Mad Max Fury Road, since I cannot set MDL higher than 4000 in Davinci? Is it than better to watch it in HDR10? Regarding the positive offset – isn’t it mostly used in 100-nit ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
If I want to check whether a x700 would alter metadata or not, I just just check if L1 plot values are lower than MDL value? E.g. if all L1 values would be under 1000 nits and MDL is 1000, then it is OK? So the only problem would be L1 over 1000 nits with MDL 1000 and L1 over 4000 with MDL 4000? And...

If a video has this static metadata, https://i.ibb.co/6cL550CC/Yellowjackets-S03-E02-Dislocation-2160p-PMTP-WEB-DL-DDP5-1-DV-HDR-H-265-FLUX-Do-Vi-L1-PLOT.png would it be more accurate to watch it on G4 in HDR10 https://i.ibb.co/HjhzS1f/Yellowjackets-S03-E02-Dislocation-2160p-PMTP-WEB-DL-DDP5-1-DV-HD...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
No brightness change in everything. btw I have the same behavior on LG G4 internal player as @deadchip12 in all the tests you were talking about. Wait you also see no brightness change with the original positive lift P5 steps (offset L2) test file? I just tested it on my C9 and I could see the brig...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
ok then another difference is the offset trim test steps file has a 100 and 600nits trims while the other test files have 100-600-1000. So please also try this one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PLh6lzMXzyV_QoDl2nVVUR9owgZXFJDW/view?usp=drive_link No brightness change in everything. btw I have t...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
@RESET_9999 I have tried your metadata comparison for Kill Bill 1 and Smile 2 on my G4 and I don't see any changes with Kill Bill but I do se them with Smile.
Is it because Kill Bill has almost no trims in 1000nits or because Smile is mastered for 4000 nits?

Does Chroma Weight makes a big difference if it is used only in 100 nits trim?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
It it possible to skip ProRes generation while converting HDR10+ to DV (using 3-1) or is it just better to use the old method if I want to do it quickly?
