Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
It it possible to skip ProRes generation while converting HDR10+ to DV (using 3-1) or is it just better to use the old method if I want to do it quickly?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
IMO, the L2 trims can only be done/edited by the colorist/director so for our Resolve generated RPU, I recommend removing or overwriting the automatic trims otherwise they can make bright content very dark and dark content brighter which might not be the intended look. see: https://www.youtube.com/...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
@RESET_9999,
I've noticed that some of your RPU files don't have L2 trims for 600 and 1000 nits (e.g. Evil Dead Rise or Avatar). Wouldn't it cause a problem on x700 with C1, since x700 ignores L1 metadata and uses only L2?

That's perfect, thank you!RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 10:52 pmsub muxing cannot be disabled but you can just disable the muxing(line 22)completely and it will launch tsmuxer with the output files in it at the end of the workflow so you can select any track you want this way.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I use the TS version with line 40 set to NO and it still muxes them into the TS file.By default, the script doesn't export subs unless you changed line 40
set export.subs=YES
TS version of the script may still extract them but it doesn't keep them in your output path if line40 is set to NO

Is there a way to disable all subtitles extraction in your script (even forced and full)?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
If I want to generate DV metadata for HLG video, is it the same workflow as for HDR10 video or do I have to change something in Davinci Resolve?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
if you want to save some time, I already generated DV in resolve for most of the movies, here are over 600 RPU files ready to be injected :) https://mega.nz/folder/CjYWyaZR#tSlKPhdblAd8shSaYoiOWA Thank you very muc for the RPU files, I just want to ask if all of them are generated in DV or if some ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I see, so to avoid that issue, it is best to just extract the original XML file and run it through your script, which will add the missing trim passes. extract original XML ? i dont think the dovi_tool can do RPU to XML. If you mean the generated resolve XML, then yes IMO you should always overwrit...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
So to avoid that issue with x700, isn't it better to generate new DV that will have trim passes instead of using the official one without any trim passes? No, the default resolve trim passes have a too strong/undesired effect when the content is very bright. When the studios grade DV, the L2 trims ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
No, the only reason you should generate DV instead of using the official dv source is if the L1 plot and PQ comparison clearly show that they are not the same grade. now if the content has high L1 max_pq values and is "L1 no trim" or "L1 + 100nits trim only", there may be an iss...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
What if the movie has only 100 nits or only 600 nits trim pass, would that be a problem? 100nits = AFAIK it's not used in DV playback but it is used with Windows 10 Movies&TV app when tone mapped to SDR. So when the movies only has 100nits trim, its the same has no trims for DV playback. 600nit...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
So what's your latest opinion on L1 in real world content on the x700/x800m2. I can see the issues on the test patterns but want to know how much it really affects actual films.I personally have a 5.1.4 atmos setup so dont really wanna sacrifice audio and use the internal player on my cx but if T1 ...
