Possible issue with aspect ratio on anamorphic NTSC DVDs
Okay, this is going to be tricky to explain! :) For a long time I've been trying to figure out why it is that I get some strange artefacts when playing back a 16:9 NTSC DVD remux in Kodi (having used MakeMKV to do the remux). Specifically, if I specify software decoding, set deinterlacing to Off, sc...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Regardless of which track I select during playback, it doesn't play 7.1 sound. The audio tracks clearly aren't being muxed properly, or at least not in a way the player can understand. You should report that to the tsmuxer thread. I never had (nor heard) any issue with truehd+core atmos using any v...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Okay, a little progress. I hadn't realised that TsMuxer lists the TrueHD audio and its core AC3 as two separate tracks. Both of them have to be included in the TS, and the core track has to come before the TrueHD track in the sequence. If my track sequence is 1: 4K video, 2: 1080p video, 3: AC3 aud...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Even using your preferred version of TsMuxer, if I feed it the playlist file and mux to a TS then my Oppo 203 can't play the resulting file. It recognises it as Dolby Vision, triggers the TV to switch modes, and displays the first frame correctly, but then the video just freezes. that's strange.. p...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
This work with the x700 (dual-layer DV + Atmos + Subs) and another user at the doom9 forum is reporting that it works on the oppo as well. Even using your preferred version of TsMuxer, if I feed it the playlist file and mux to a TS then my Oppo 203 can't play the resulting file. It recognises it as...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
(though I distinctly remember activating dolby vision with other m2ts files). Maybe you had the player's HDR Mode set to "Dolby Vision" rather than "Auto"? In that case it would output Dolby Vision, but obtain it by converting the HDR10 track on the fly rather than actually usin...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
I'll give that a go tomorrow. One obvious issue, though: what if there's seamless branching?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 6:52 pmRemux the original m2ts straight to TS with tsMuxer. No need to create single layer (bl+el+RPU) with the oppo and the x700. You'll only lose the chapters.

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Okay, this still isn't working for me. I start with an unencrypted folder backup. I rip the movie using MakeMKV version 1.15.1, including video, TrueHD track and associated core AC3 track, and English subtitles, but don't include other audio tracks (e.g. other languages and commentary tracks) or oth...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Okay, I'm getting precisely nowhere with this at the moment. Can someone give me a step-by-step guide? I'm starting from an unencrypted folder back-up of the disc. What's the simplest route? I'm using the version of TSMuxer recommended earlier in the thread, but when I load the MKV into it, it can't...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
So, for someone like myself who refuses to buy a 2019 Shield and is violently allergic to Plex, can files created in the way that is described in this thread (makemkv, eac3to, TsMuxer) be played any other way? For example, could my Oppo 203 play them correctly? ATV4K?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
There is no such thing as "converting HDR to DV". It's quite easy, actually. All you have to do is take static metadata values and re-label them as dynamic values which, quite coincidentally, just happen never to change for the duration of the video. You can think of it as being like &quo...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
People recommending the Sony X700 as a Dolby Vision media player should be a little careful. It does correctly play back dual-layer DV if it is muxed into MP4 format, as described in this thread (meaning no HD audio). However, it doesn't play back dual-layer DV in M2TS format. If you try and play a...
